the united nation doesn't even have an army of its own, they borrow armies from all the countries that are part of the UN. people say they serve Americas interest, but that's not true because they have often stood against USA and this has come at a price for America. e.g. Iraq. the UN is a good idea to have as they contain soldiers from all around the world, if you were to bring peace to a country like Palestine, it would be hard for an American army to serve there, if they don't then countries like Iran will create rivers of blood as it seems non of the laws of human rights apply in this government. and because of that they get away with doing just about everything. you will need UN to prevent an all out war.god help humanity, we are really screwed. the soldiers that serve in the UN army are not even allowed to fire when fired up on. if they come under attack they have to retreat, they distribute food and supply to the people that need it.

I do not know if that is some "secret purpose" or not but the UN is too incompetent to be a real threat to anyone. Even when they try their hand at "peace keeping" they fail. Hotel Rwanda is a very sad, very moving film but it illustrates the utter incompetence of the United Nations. Anyone who is worried about the UN taking over the world (or who has a shred of respect for the UN.) should see this film.

You need to take a step back and think about that question, and consider the following.

The only time the UN accomplishes something is when the US leads the way and/or foots the bill. Therefore, if the UN gains total world domination it would be either the US giving it to them, or the US gaining it through them.

I can't believe the UN can believe the US will give it to them, and I also don't believe the countries of the UN are willing to turn themselves over to US control.

No, I sure don't. The UN has shown no willingness to engage in justified military responses (such as Rwanda) let alone pursue world domination.

I have a few conservative friends who believe the UN is all about world domination....but of course I think their opinions here are more faith based than fact based.

I've never seen anything that would lead me to believe this... personally... so no...

they very function and form of the organization is almost so, as it stands now, it would be impossible for it to take over the world...

now... some in the organization could have lofty goals... but the organization would have to change fundamentally to achieve those goals...

LOL - no.

The United Nations isn't just a disinterested group of people who decided to make their own country. It's made up of leaders from many nations around the world - including your own. So to say that the United Nations is trying to achieve world domination is to say that the world is trying to dominate itself.

No. It does, however, provide a venue for those third world countries who are jealous of America's power and influence in the world. It also provides a home for the largest organized crime syndicate in the world.

Without question, and with Hillary suggesting she would make Bill Ambassador to the world, and Bill suggesting he wants to head the UN, well you do not have to be a genius to put it all together.
