I had placenta praevia and had a scan at 34 weeks where I found out all was ok and I could give birth naturally. At worst she will have to have a caesarean, but either way, don't worry! Best of luck to her, hope the scan goes well!

i had the same thing with my son and by the time i had a second scan at 36 weeks the placenta had moved enough out of the way to not cause a concern and my son was born naturally 12 days after his due date. and now hes a healthy 6yr old that wont sit still lol. so try not to worry most of the time all is fine at the second scan. all the best and good luck!!

Most of the time, placenta previa does move. I was diagnosed with the same, and it absolutely moved by delivery time. I delivered a healthy, HUGE baby girl (9 lbs 12 ozs) with no problems, vaginally.

Only the scan will tell you for certain, but the odds are in her favor. Good luck!

It can have moved - my sister had placenta praevia at 20 weeks but by 28 weeks the placenta had moved enough for normal delivery! Unfortunately she needed a c section anyway because she got Hellps syndrome but that was nothing to do with the placenta praevia!!

If its going to "move" at all it would be close to the highest point its going to be by 36 weeks. I was told at 14 weeks part of my placenta was covering my cervix (not full placenta previa) and at 30 weeks it is was still low but high enough for a normal vaginal delivery.

Good luck to your daughter!

I had a low lying placenta with my first child and had to have a scan at 36 weeks. It had moved up on its own and I had a normal delivery.

The placenta does not move. It embeds into the lining of the womb/uterus. Throughout pregnancy the uterus grows and the lower segment or third does not develop much until the thirs trimester which is why scans earlier cannot always predict if the placenta will be low lying at term. (imagine; drawing a mark on a deflated ballon, then blow the balloon up. The mark appears to move)

A placenta that encroaches on the os (internal opening of the cervix) or covers it is known as a placenta praevia and neccessitates a caesarian. She will see a consutant if this is the case who will discuss why and when this would happen.

It does. I had the same problem on my 20 week scanand by 32 weeks when I had the scan to check that it had moved, it was back to where it was supposed to be. I had a normal delivery with my daughter.

My friend just went through that. Hers didn't move and she had to have a C-section. The doctor told her she needed complete bed rest, which was impossible with 4 other kids in the house, one is under 2. She spotted blood a few times, the doctor scolded her and told she could bleed to death if she didn't stay off her feet.
She ended up having her at 36 weeks, her water broke and she didn't even know it and the hospital was 45 minutes away. They called her the miracle baby at the hospital.
There's no way of knowing it has moved without her being checked.

I had placenta previa when I was pregnant and it moved on it's own . And I had a normal delivery , so yes there is a chance it could have moved by now.
