With all due respect "BEST" is probably relative to multiple factors.
T-111 works, but isn't so aesthetically pleasing. It is WOOD however. Hardi Plank, often sold with GRAIN look in it, isn't always WOOD.
You probably should define your needs/ location/ environmental conditions/ code or zoning ordinances/ lenght of time you intend to inhabit the property/ amount of maintainence you're willing to accept on a regular basis/ etc.
In the 40's and 50's people lived in homes, often sided with what was called "Clap Board"...most often wood from a conifer, and it prepped properlay, painted occasionally, it held up as well as most. Certainly not like Brick, etc. but my parents home sold at 50 plus years old with just paint on NOT rotted planking.
I suspect, without knowing any other detail, specific to your dwelling, the answers can only be personal opinions.
Certainly Cedar and Redwood are most durable, but costly, and may be difficult to find in a quantity to side an entire house. TEAK would be great, as would Mahogany, but there we are,,,with cost again.
