because he has said he wants our troops to leave Iraq by the end of this year? After all, Democrats who have said the same thing have been accused of aiding the enemy for it - so why not him?

Sorry if I implied he meant all troops by the end of the year.

Good point. But most Republicans have never called the Democrats traitors for what they do for Iraq but what they do at home. John Warner is a good senator who is tired out by war like most of the American public.

What distinguishes John Warner from the Democrats is that he has never accused Bush of lying about WMD's, concocting the war for political gain, accusing the troops of war crimes or a dozen other ideas.

What amazes me is how the rhetoric is beginning to amp up because of a policy by a highly unpopular lame-duck president and an election year, with the focus on a prez election, which means more voter interest. Warner is sincere, but if he can't get the votes for his idea...then what is the point.

So how's Bush's war working for you? I support warner.
He is speaking truth to power. And you have mis quoted him. By impliction you are implying he is seeking to have all leave at once. This is a distortion.
The real traitors and cowards are in the Cheney / Bush administration.

John Warner was my senator when I lived in Virginia. I respect the man and his opinions.

they are accusing him of this... and as time goes on... they accuse more and more people... and the numbers loyal to their ideas grows smaller and smaller...

you can only go so far with a "my way or the highway" platform... people like to think for themselves and don't like to be mocked for asking questions...

the numbers of Republican senators against the war just goes up and up... and as the right mocks them... it only makes them more against the war...

Good point. I will be eager to see the other answers here. But it may be better to ask the RNC.
