She got beat up and I suppose that made her mentally ill about magic.
I was somewhat dissapointed by the last book. there was unanswered questions and stuff that didn't make sense(Ron doing parseltounge?) JKR did have many flaws in her plan.

JK has left this up to your imagination - on purpose! For example - "redunicorn", above, imagined assault and "momo70707" imagined another type of assault to force her to do magic.
This last book was very subjective as it was not very complete and did not answer many marketing ploys and un-tethered plot gimmicks.
I think JKs effort on the "glossary" should have been put into the book itself. Why spend time on a glossary when all of the definitions and questions could have been clarified IN the story!
Just another way to make $$$$

Slapped her face, punched her stomach, spit on her dress, called her a filthy little witch, called her an abomination, told her that the Bible says "suffer not a witch to live, stomped her toes; they kept this up long enough that she no longer wanted to have conscious control of her magic.

They said that the muggle boys saw her doing magic. But, she couldn't do it willfully so they probably beat her up to make her do it.

They beat her up and I suspect they raped her as well.
