Sounds like the older married guys chose poorly, or too early. They regret their choice, at times anyway, and feel trapped. Naturally, this kind of guy doesn't want to see other guys screw up in the same way.

There are, of course, plenty of married people who chose well and think everyone should marry, for a shot at being as happy as they are. They think that if you're really sure you're done with the changes of youth (not the physical ones) and have met The One, then you should go for it.

Come by the house and I'll introduce you to Mr. Maryn, if we can tear him away from the baseball game. We've got a lot of years invested.

I got married at 20. And yes, it has lasted a long time. Its just a matter of finding the right soul-mate at the right time.

Marriage is the ultimate relationship, but if ur a good guy, you will face a uphill battle all the way, because nice women are very rare to find these days. Almost impossible but not completely impossible

Because they are unhappy in their marriages & therefore think that no one could possibly ENJOY married life. Complete bullcrap if you ask me! Don't let others push their pessimistic views onto you just to make themselves feel better. If they can't be encouraging or give some kind of helpful advice they should just keep their mouths shut.

They say that because they probably hate their spouse and / or got married when they weren't ready to commit. There's nothing wrong with getting married if you think you're ready for it. I got married in 1999 when I was 19, and I don't regret it.

overthere and fantasy are on the right track,
I myself believe some guys get married because they think they will get laid alot, so they are getting married for the wrong reasons.
Women can be the same way, I have two divorces.

I would say that's a little strong, but you are only 20. There are a lot of things to see and do.

Do things that excite you and you will find your soulmate.

Don't Settle.
If you find someone you really like, then marry her.
But don't be desperate for anything, and don't settle for just about anything.
If you find your true love marry her, not just anyone.

i guess they want you to "live" before you get trapped in the marrying world where you have to clean and take care of stuff

which i think is pretty stupid.. i agree that you shouldn't get married that early but marriage is not that horrible it only is when you make it that way
i think marrying is a great thing:)
