Um....which kind of girlfriend are we talking here? The "special" kind or just a female friend? I am not going to presume to answer the former. If it is the latter then your wife has jealousy issues. Maybe she doesn't feel secure enough in your relationship for you to interact with other females. I would suggest you sit down and talk to her about this. See where it goes.

Dude, I'd drop the girlfriend. The wife *has* to like the girlfriend; the girlfriend doesn't have to like the wife. The one who's more likely to kill you is the one you need to appease.
