Yes, my husband. He actually prefers it to the real stuff! Luckily he's in a minority in the family, so the real stuff is what I use.

Gods of potatoes, please forgive.
It is no sustitute for peeling, boiling and crushing or mashing a good spud such as maris pipers.
Salt, pepper, butter & milk.
Warmed up powder is edible, but over the top on price, and below the bar on taste.
The advert used to say "for mash, get Smash"
I think that you would need to be smashed to use the muck.
Now, suprisingly perhaps, I have found that baby new spuds, boiled in their skins and crushed with garlic and butter make a fine mashed effort.
I would ban the packets of powder from the shelf !

I remember the old days up hear in Gnome, Alaska when we only had powdered mashed potatos. Those were the days, I tell you. Sometimes I eat powdered mashed potatos just to relive those memories. At other times I just eat blubber because sometimes that's all we had too.

I agree and the worst thing is when you order mashed potato in a restaurant and get served with smash - do they honestly think we cant tell the difference (you know who they are, one of the big pub chains!!!!_)

He he, I went through a period where I would use smash instead of making my own as I am a student and general laziness meant peeling potatoes, boiling them and then mashing them was too much effort, I do however cook my own now and its scrummy! You can't beat some creamy mash potatoes, lovely!

yes! I knew a boy at uni who used to eat loads of it...but then again he thought putting some mayo over a tin of tuna was proper cooking! I either make it from scratch or buy the stuff from tescos where it's all mashed from real potatoes and you just microwave it.

My mum had her kidney removed last year (cancer), and she's now addicted to smash.
She never entertained the stuff before. It's so embarassing having to buy it.
