when i went to private school i used to wear leggings or knit tights under my skirt during the winter. they were comfy and definitely different.
wear cute glasses, and hair accessories. (scarves are a good idea--simple, cute, but they make a statement.) but don't go too crazy with accessories in general because too much is too much.
also, get your own shoes, if you can. uniform shoes are usually boring and ugly, so if you can get away with getting something that works without standing out too much (i used to wear ballet flats instead of the nasty guy shoes we were supposed to wear) go ahead and do that.
enjoy the uniform while you're wearing it, though. i'm going to college now and some days i really miss not having to worry about what to wear...

i go to a uniform school but no one likes it...lol. the navy blue pants (our school banned skirts since it is a catholic school and half the girls were getting their skirts cut to be shorter) really dont look good on the girls so most of them have been hunting for uniform look alike pants at stores and finally some ppl found that u could get pants from Dynamite that looked like our uniform so now practically all the girls wear those or try to sneak by in black pants (i survived a whole semester in black pants without being caught) what many basically do is wear a bright coloured tank top under school sweater or during the summer we just roll up our pants (which is against the schools weird rules) you could wear a nice scarf or i dont noe...sometimes i dont wear a shirt under the sweater and that looks alright. the latest trend in my school was if u bought a school sweater (not blazer) was to cut the sweater down the middle in the front so you ended up having a front open sweater which looked nice if u bought the nice fitted pants from Dynamite and wore a tight golf shirt

Guess it depends on the uniform - in the school i work you have to buy and wear the uniform the school provide so everyone looks exactly like each other (just different sizes) which is a bit lame... also some schools are tougher on uniform rules.... so don't want you to end up being sent home for like....ripping holes in it..like other have suggested...
I know some girls (and maybe lads) have a hole in their sleeves of their jumpers (hoody.. whatever) so their thumbs pop through (bit like a bench top) or those bright coloured glove things - but mostly emo types wear them....Are you allowed to wear interesting tights..? or badges on your tie (if you have to wear one..). Some kids wear t-shirts under their white shirts - but the teachers got a bit cross with a few of the designs worn and banned it to only plain white t-shirts.
'Fraid school uniform will always be tragic.....and difficult to make interesting without being moaned at or having things confiscated.....make your hair interesting instead - they can hardly confiscate that (although they can send you home - like i was until it grows/washes out..... pink hair aparantly wasn't acceptable...and probably still isn't).
But whatever you look like, one things for sure.....you will never look as desperatley unfashionable or as uncool as any of the teachers........

uniformity is made to make evryone look the same...but leave it to kids like us 2 make it individual =P so when you modify your skl uniform you wanna try and keep it loking trendy without getting in loads of trouble...i dont know what colours your skl uniform are but a nice waistcoat always smartens up a shirt, and teamed with 3 quarter length combat trousers, tights, ballet pumps and an oversized handbag 4 a skl bag i assure you that you'll be dressed to impress for back to school =] however if skirts are more your thing get a classy little skirt from shops like New Look or Bay (or Macy's if your american)...also whatever colour shirt you wear you should wear a contrasting vest top/ t-shirt underneath eg: blue/brown, white/pink and matching earrings...
hope i helped =] x

Although uniforms often smite indiviuality, they can also give you a basis for multiples of outfits. if able, add scarves in multiple colors to play up the look if your uniform is a dark palatte. beaded necklaces, pearls, or even legwarmers/ bright tights can give the much needed diversity that comes with a uniform. check out seventeen.com because they have girls from around the country who were picked uniform individuality.

yep got ideas for you. do you wear a blazer? if you do, stuff on the inside is always good. if you wear a jumper, school ones always have kind of elastic sort of springy bits at the end of the sleeves and you can put hair clips all around them which looks alright. if you wear a belt, dont put it it the loopholes, tie it around the curve of your @rse which will also attract boy interest. if you wear a tie you can do stuff to the back of it. and thats pretty much it. have fun!

I dont see why other answerers are suggesting for you to burn holes and create tears in your uniform.
You can easily add simple twists using accessories like belts and jewellery, you can vamp it up without recking your uniform and looking like a scruffy idiot.

Cute ribbons, buttons, do your hair different, customize your backpack with rhinstones and markers - put a star on it with colored safety pins, if you wear ties pick funky colors, if you can- put bright tanks under your polos so that they show through, wear bright converse ( you could match it to your tanks) , cute belts and jelwery, anything you can get away with...

well our German school was thinking about that but left it to us to decide... out came: different kind of tops/T_shirts/pullovers/sweatshirts/... with the school label the rest your own decision but there were other clothing's on sell as well...
as a matter of fact the bigger part of the school taught that it's important to have different styles to see immediately who is in which "subculture". In my group it was "to see the intelligence-level"...

Umm, if you're allowed to wear accessories, add a scarf, or some sort of belt. And you can roll the sleeves up...
