I'm sorry, when I asked the question I knew they are not all red, I was just wondering about the ones that are. Thanks.

Book pages, like newspapers, tend to get yellow over time. The edges of Bibles and other old books are colored to prevent the buyer from noticing yellowing pages, and especially yellowing page edges. Yellowed pages are unattractive to most people - so coloring them will make people more likely to buy the book and not be turned off.

Most of the red-edged bibles I've seen are the same ones that have the words of Jesus in red as well.. might be a connection there, actually. I think that's a way to signify that the Bible in question is a red-letter edition.

They aren't all red. I have a bible with gold edges, and one with white. It's for decoration purposes.
