The property description is on register at the county courthouse where the property lies. The deed has a legal description exactly describing the property lines. In the title policy you buy at purchase, the title company insures that the property described in this deed is the property you are purchasing.

You need to check with the register of deeds for the county where the property is located. They are probably located in the county courthouse. They may have their information on a web site.

When you buy a piece of property, the bank will usually require that a survey gets done if there isn't a recent one. Ask the seller if they had one done recently.
