On that particular truck, you need to remove the valve covers first, before you can remove the intake manifold. You will also need to remove the upper plenum as well as the ignition coilpack assembly bolted to it. There will be a total of FIVE gaskets that need to be replaced on that particular engine (4.0L). You will need to replace BOTH valve cover, upper and lower fuel rail plenum, and lower intake gaskets. Pay particular attention to the injector o-rings during removal, so as not to damage them. Make sure you clean ALL gasket surfaces thoroughly before you reinstall all the parts. Using a good gasket surface cleaner will help. Hope this helps.

Proud of you Cheri! It would be easier for you if you went to a Parts store like Pep Boys and get a manual for your vehicle. Or you may try the library or get the specific info from the net.
Since you own the vehicle it would be best to find/buy/beg the manual for future projects. But, start by locating it, carefully removing the nuts and bolts etc. As you do. Have a work bench or table to place each nut/bolt and part in the exact order that you remove it.
Remove the old gasket. Make sure that you clean both surfaces with a 5n1 tool, wire brush etc. First cover the openings so as not to get the old material inside. Then place/install the new gasket as directed. I would get/apply a good sealer, then replace the parts in reverse order.
It is will be a big job, so have patience. If you think it will help I do have an old manual that covers the Fairlane and Torino. It may be the same problem. If you like I will give it to you. Contact me and give me a positive ID of yourself so an impostor won't ask for it. I will even pay the postage if in the U.S.

First you get your digital camera and take pictures from all angles of every step of the job. You'll be glad you did when you start trying to figure out where this and that part or wire or hose used to go. Then get the Haynes manual you just paid $20 for and start taking things apart. It's not a small job. I did it on my 93 Explorer.

you have to disconnect everything that's bolted to it,including all the sensors ,and remove it,clean the surface real well on both the engine and the manifold and re-install it,you need a repair manual to use on this one,it will have all the specs in it you,ll need to re-tighten this one back up,a book is real handy on a job like this one, good luck on it.
