what kinds of wood can i use that arent that exposed to water that much and what do i treat it with or paint it with?thanks Tom

Depends if it trim or construction.Teak ,Mahogany, are the most used ,As if construction then match the other wood being used so it swell the same>

Teak wood, and if you go to your local marina you should be able to get the cleaner, stain and oil for the wood.
