I went into pre-term labor this past week at 31 weeks and 4 days. I was given a shot to stop labor. My question is my family is scheduled to move from Arizona to South Carolina in two weeks at a lil over 34 weeks pregnant. He is in the military and being stationed there so we really have no choice. Is there a chance I may have to stay behind and come up after I have the baby? I don't see my doctor until Wednesday and just wanted an idea of what may happen. Thanks.

More than likely you will have to stay behind because of 3 reasons...1. you have already been treated for pre term labor, 2. you can't fly at this many weeks, and 3. driving across country will not be allowed because of the risk of blood clots. You don't want to put you or your unborn baby at any risk this far along... Good Luck

You might have to stay behind, unless the military will spring to have a nurse accompany you on the flight. My mom was pregnant with me when they had to move across the state of Washington in Jan and there was snow on the ground (I was born a month and 10 days later) and a friend of hers is a nurse and she rode in the car just in case my mom went into labor. Do ask your doctor.

That sounds scary. Being that you were already in labor recently and had to have it stopped, I would assume this move would be too risky for you at this time. Especially during the travel time itself. You won't have anyone there to prevent your labor and it wouldn't be safe to be in labor while travelling.

Ask your doctors, but I would assume they prefer you to stay behind and have your baby before they will let you travel.

You have a choice. You can choose to stay in AZ. It's up to you, but I would (a) ask my doctor first about the safety and (b) plan the trip to take lots of breaks and minimal space between hospitals.

I would want to go. Just get checked right before you get on the plane. It is only a few hours on the plane.

I would go to the doctor assuming you can go- and make it clear you want to be with your husband for the birth. Remember, doctors make money by delivering babies.

if all they gave you was a shot to stop the contractions, that is not really preterm labor and you should be fine. if, on the other hand, you were in the hospital for 3 days and are dilated 3 cm you will be staying behind. these kind of questions are not for YA, BTW. they are for your doctor
