I feel that it is wrong that my employer keeps it to buy us things. She shouldn't have the right to spend the money I earn taking care of kids in a fittness center.

Your company may have a policy that restricts employees from accepting tips from patrons. Your boss may be trying to skirt this policy by allowing tips to be put into a collective fund to be used for the benefit of your daycare staff (drinks, lunch, party, etc.). If this is indeed the case (check out your company rules) then, In my view as long as she's actually spending the $ on you and your co-workers then she's trying to be nice. If you however find that you can accept tips by company policy and she's taking them or she's flouting policy but not using said monies completely for your staff then report her to your human services department.
