Ok, I'm a 15 year old white male, I would like to get my left ear pierced and have a diamond stud in it but i have one problem my parents (both of them) think that boys with pierced ears are stupid - I don't think this. How can I convince them to let me get my ear pierced. Also its nearing the end of the summer holidays so it wouldn't have good healing time with school (PE) and all, ideas please. Could I also have some price ideas.
Thanks

I hate to say it, but your parents are right. I have a solution though. If you have the stud you can pierce it yourself. There's a catch though. Make sure the stud is real and new first. If it's not, it's going to irritate the skin in your ear. Find a reason to spend some time, maybe a week trip with a friend of yours. Someone whose parents don't know that having the piercing is not wanted by your parents. Clean the stud with alcohol bought at any drug store. Also clean your ear the same way. Mark the hole and have your buddy push the stud through. You'll hear and feel two pops. (Two layers). It's not going to hurt much if at all. Keep the hole and the stud clean and don't take it out. Now, when you return home, keep the stud in unless you have to be around your parents. So take it out. It's not going to close in an hour. When you are free from then put it back in. It should heal quick if it's clean. I still have the original holes in my ears when I did the same thing bro. Good luck.

Sometimes it takes years to realize how right parents were. However the ear piercing issue is part of a ongoing transitional era in which gender issues have been melding. Years ago it was termed unisex. Traditionally only women wore jewelry that dangled from their ears and so it has been locked in for many centuries as a feminine thing. So in the eyes of traditionalists there is nothing manly about men wearing earrings no more than it would be for men to walk around with lipstick and eye liner on. So you would have to be a little more open minded about it at least to understand where your parents are coming from if you are going to get them to come over to the compromising table. You will also have to bring out other examples within their generation where teenagers crossed over a line that was considered taboo and now considered a norm. The breakdown of traditional role models has been going on for some time with increased influence by the feminists who want to change the orientation of gender roles.

I used to pierce peoples ears a few years ago and when I was working in the industry it was about £7.00. Its not a lot of money and it deff won't cost that much especially if its only one piercing.
My parents wouldnt let me have my ears pierced either at your ag, it really done my head in as I wanted it done so badly as everyone I knew had it done. But now I wish I'd waited until I was a bit older! I went behind their back and just did it, they were really upset for a while but they got over it. Just explain to your parents that its something you really want to have done but also promise them that you will look after the peircing, i didn't and I wore plastic crap 80's earring that I was allergic to and to this day a very large holes in my ears, I cant wear normal studs as the backs fall through the holes YUK, sounds minging doesn't it? Anyway just tell them that you will look after the peircing. Also tell them that you will take it out for school and you will also pay for it to be done. If you are going to wear a diamond stud make sure you are not allergic to nickel (the metal) of all fashion jewellery. The studs they use for piercing are 18ct gold plated. And always remember to leave the original earring in for 6 weeks before changing it. Oh and DONT get a big tacky chav diamond lol ... only joking
I hope your parents let you have it done. Just be extra nice to them lol

Well well. This is something which I think is a general problem. If you are that desperate to get a piercing, then either way you will go for it, whether your parents agree or not. But before that, I would say that you think it again. Why are you doing it? Is it necessary? Peer pressure? If you have a suitable answer then your parents will agree with the same answer!
Getting a diamond stud might be costly. So check them out in your region. Maybe your parents will point out that the cost is high.(And that's right!) But that problem will be another yahoo question! :)

Go to Target, Walmart etc.. buy an ear piercing kit. Have a friend do it for you. The cost is under $20 and if you pierce your ear and then go home what are your parents going to do really? I can't see them holding you down and taking the earring out. Tell them its just a piercing and you're young and its not permanent. They were teens at one time and the styles of the 80's and 90's were goofy. I'm sure they dressed crazy or did something crazy. Also point out that if you get tired of the piercing and want to get rid of it you can just take out the earring.

Well offer to pay for it with your own money, if the answer is no than ask why. Show your parents that you will be responsible with it and clean it twice everyday. Start by showing responsibility and doing your chores without being asked, being respectful etc. etc. I am a girl and when I got my ears pierced (which was less than a year ago) I had to pay for the earrings than piercing came free. I would recommend getting a earring with a gold, stainless steel, or surgical steel post, and back. For a set of earrings it costs about $25, but mine where surgical steel and round with no stone in them. So for a diamond it may cost more. I would recommend going to Piercing Pagoda.

I personally don't like it, but that is why we have so many different colors in the world. How boring life would be if we where all the same.
I have a son and if he came to me I would tell him my thoughts and if he still wanted to do it, then he would have to pay for it himself. The good thing about ear piercing is that if you decide to stop wearing it the hole will eventually close.
I don't know how old your parents are, but I know that when my parents where growing up, they had the long hair, and the hippie style clothes and the rock and roll, that they tell me all the time my grandparents hated. You might want to ask them how they dealt when their parents told them no :-)
Just don't have an attitude, or be rude. Stay calm and tell them why you want it.
Of course, if my son came to me wanting his nose pierce, well then, that would be another matter... LOL

Lots of begging and screaming tantrums probably.
Ive got 14 piercings in my left ear and 12 in my right and have had them since i was 12...but my parents didn't give a toss what i did.
They only say no because they care...as annoying as that seems at 15.. its true!
You only want it done cos everyone at school has it done...why not be different and be as you are?
I got my jumper caught in one whilst changing one night and ripped part of my ear off...not pleasant i can tell you.
If you get it pierced you cant take it out for the 1st 8 weeks any way or the hole will close up and heal over..I doubt your school will let you wear one or if they do they make you put a plaster over it...not a good look I'm sure you'll agree.
Wait till youve had your 1st tattoo...oh my god will you have a war on your hands..lol

i think when a guy looks like he doesnt have piercings, but when you see a face turn and you see a slight glimpse on the earring looks really cool. so i recommend you get a small one :) and just tell you parents that it will heal up anytime if it gets bad or if you dont like it. piercings will cost $20-30 and if u buy the earring, it will cost around $60 and up. becuase you have to get a gold one so it wont infect you, so costs a bit more the first time. will heal around a month

Well, the fact that your parents think that a boy having a pierced ear because it's a female characteristic to have piercings. If I were you, I'd woo your parents with talking about gender association and roles and how the social aspects of our society restricts us from things we want to do. And these days, a piercing is unisex.
