For a stranger from America ... Would you recommend a quick trip in Borneo instead of Malaka, Kl and Cameron H.?

Note: the nature is the most important then the special buildings.

Nature in Borneo - definitely the highlight of Borneo. It can't be done in 2 days though. Even the ascent and descent from Mount Kinabalu will take more than a 2 day-2night trip. For that alone you have to stay at least 3 nights there: 1 night upon arrival in the hill station of Kundasang (prior to ascent you stay here), the ascent the next day but you spend the night halfway - this is Day 2, Day 3 you complete the ascent to the peak and then come down, then Night 3 you return to Kota Kinabalu, Day 4 you fly off.

2 days then you are better off with Cameron Highlands, even Taman Negara National Park in Pahang will take you 3 nights at least to allow you hiking the popular trails there and visiting the caves and canopy walk there. Canopy Walk is when you cross a series of suspension bridges up in the canopy, 30 to 40 meters above ground. If you are lucky you can glimpse some gibbons, flying squirrels and unique birds. This National Park is home to the second highest mountain in Malaysia - Gunung Tahan. It may not be as high as Kinabalu but it is the most difficult to climb. You have to depart from the last village and from here to the peak then back to the village it will take you 5 days. Where there are well-carved out steps for you to walk on Kinabalu, there are only muddy and steep jungle trails in Tahan.

To get to Taman Negara from KL, you have to take a 2 hour bus to Kuala Tembeling. From here it is another 2 to 2.5 hour boat ride (small dingy with one engine and no washroom) up to Kuala Tahan where almost all budget hotels are. Things here like food are abit more expensive than KL because of transportation costs. Tourists normally get from one attraction to the other by boat because some are on one side of the river but your hotel is on the other side.

if nature is more important then Borneo by far, but if its only 2 days well Malaka,KL and Cameron Highlands because Borneo has about 3 months worth of experiences there.

personally Borneo beats all three of the other options by far.
