It started a long time ago when employees were taking lunch breaks in their vehicles in the company parking lots and found they were under surveillance by company security staff.
Most recently, The Brady Center for Gun Safety (A misnomer if there ever was one.) Has pushed large companies to punish employees who carry and store firearms in their vehicles while on company property. They have even gone to the extent of searching these vehicle in violation of the employees' Constitutional Rights. These employees were found to be permitted CCW holders and lawfully within their rights to do so. Others were hunters who would get in some hunting time before going to work or heading home. ALL LEGAL ACTIVITY.!
It has been proven many times over that a firearm for protection is a preventive measure in the event there is a problem with someone who decides to take deadly action.
If you are interested check out www.NRA.com/ILA. I believe there is a partial list of national companies who support the Brady action.

Are you doing the chicken little thing again?
Employees do not have a right to private phone calls or email while they are at work, on company time. Employers pay employees to provide work, not to do private business. The phone lines and internet connections belong to the owner of the business, not to the employee.
Can you name one person who has been "detained/arrested until months or years down the road" simply for "dissent from the government's line?"
I don't think you can name one...you're just spewing fear and hate.
I am beginning to believe that you are paranoid and delirious, Miss Kelly.

I dont need the ACLU's protection from anything. Id prefer to be shot in the head by the Taliban, considering all the communist stupidity that has come from the ACLU.
you mention "private businesses" as if being private were a bad thing. I guess you forgot how the Soviets conducted business, with their leftist ideology.

Most major banks are already doing this. The Bush scare tactics are causing Americans to spy on one another. Can we really say that, as people, we are any better than the Soviet Russians or Germans during Hitler's reign?

FYI--they've been doing that for years--and the GOP passed laws making it legal.

I can't answer your question, but I heard a quote the other day that stuck with me; "Hitler would be proud".
