I've seen some really offensive answers to questions on there, but then I've also seen where people give a thought out answer that doesn't contain name calling or an attack on the asker, but then the asker will add nasty comments about them in additional notes. What's that about? Are they just mean spirited people or are they these trolls I hear about????

I had this very same experience recently with the user: SOLARCIDE !!! I thoughtfully answered his question without any slurs or insults and he posted a response to me basically saying that I approve of child abuse and that I made myself look foolish. His question had nothing to do with any kind of abuse.... just him getting blown off my a female YA user cause her husband didn't approve of her talking to him (now I can see why). Guess it was a serious blow to his ego or something for him to attack me for trying to help out! But I wasn't the only one he attacked or made fun for answering his question... Strangely enough, he is even one of my fans! Poor confused soul! People are really strange sometimes, you just have to ignore them and move on... They are the ones that are "messed up" and probably need the most help when it comes to answers, but they are too closed minded to accept what people say if it's not what they WANT to hear.

There are all kinds of people in this category, and everyone is in a different frame of mind when they play on Polls & Surveys. Some people are nice and helpful, some are silly, some are sarcastic yet funny, and some don't know how to play well with others. You have a broad age range here, too. Never take anything personal in this category. Accept the good, ignore the bad, and don't get involved in other people's drama.

As I do not give or ask nasty questions I can't explain it but if people started reporting the abusers more it may stop it.
I think most people just ignore it and move on, it's just like in real life, if someone says something nasty you have two choices, ignore them or confront them.

I think that for the most part people are honestly trying to help. However, some people are so ignorant and ask such stupid questions that they deserve to be verbally berated.
Since it is illegal to hunt stupid people for sport, modern society allows for an anonymous forum like Yahoo Answers to shoot them mentally.
Unfortunately, most of them just don't get it.
