Sitting on my 'little red rocking chair' to work on the lawn mower. Sounds funny, i know, but it was really cool to me because he wanted to use my chair. It was really a small one, too, about the size for a 2 year old.

It probably will seem like child abuse and I'm pretty sure if anyone had witnessed such a thing he'd have been brought up on some sort of corrupting a minor type charges these days, but when I was a little kid (nearly 30 years ago) he would get sort of drunk every Friday and give me and my little brother little bits of beer in a tiny shot glass. Just one. And uh, the beer can towers were great. Once he had me and my brother dangle cigarettes from our mouths, hold a can of beer in one hand up to the camera, and a shotgun in the other. Seriously. It was fun. But I'm sure you see what I mean about criminal charges. I was about 6 or 7, and little brother would have been 2 or 3.

I have fond memories of my dad dating back to when I was a child. He would always take my siblings and I to ride ponies every weekend. He's been the best father any daughter could ever ask for. Today is his birthday.

Lots, but one that comes to mind is the day he built a see saw for me and my friends to play on. He even taught us some little see saw songs for when we played on it. I think I will always remember that. Oh, yeah--and he cried at my wedding.

dad has always been rather remote during my childhood. there was once he wrote a note to say that there was fish for dinner. he added in his p.s for me to look out for the tiny fish bones. reduced me into a bucket of tears. stuck with me forever.

He was so funny and loved to laugh! He was a hard worker too, and I have never known anyone who had blue eyes like his. They were ultra, ultra light blue. My dad was great. He died in l994.
