Not weird at all. Almost all the calls were made from the on-board "Air-Phones." Besides, even cell phones back then were able to receive signals up to 50,000 ft, the highest altitude the planes achieved was 40,000 ft.

It's not that they won't work, it's that it's against Federal law to use a cell phone while in the air on the off chance that they'll mess with the plane's instruments (the phones on the plane use different technology).
On flight 93, it was kind of a moot point.

i've been on several planes with phones in them in the last 20 years. i think you could get a signal, but you could also mess up the planes instraments or radar? kinda like using a cell in the hospital. even though there is a new case study out for hospitals saying it dont matter.

Cell phones have always worked in air planes. The crew always tells passengers to shut their phones off in the plane, so they do not interfere with radio and radar signals.

they don't want you to use phones on a plane because it could interfere with their electronics in the cockpit, not because you can't get a signal, so on 9/11 the hijackers allowed the people on the plane to call and tell their families goodby.

Do some research and I think you'll find that the movie they put out on that flight is pure fallacy.
Using cell phones would pose problems that high up in the sky. Besides, they usually don't let you use cell phones since they can interfere with their communications.

As an electronic expert and this study has conclusively proved that these calls used voice synthesis and caller ID spoofing with a good possibility that chemicals were used to kill any possible survivors prior to impact to twin towers. Planes were remotely controlled by satellite...........isnt geospatial intelligence something else?

And yes, these phone calls were disinformation released to the public as cell phone boosters were not in existance in 2001.
