Stars are balls of gas predominantly Hydrogen that cause chemical reactions. Galaxies are made up of millions of stars. Planets are objects that orbit Stars and they can be rock ( Earth, Mars ) or Gas ( Jupiter, Saturn ). For more information on Stars, can I suggest http://www.universeguide.com/TheStars.php

Planets are generally more solid and cooler than stars. Galaxies are very big and they are made up of planets and stars.

Describing stars as balls of gas is rather misleading.
A cubic meter of air weighs approximately 1.2 kilograms
A cubic meter of water weighs approximately 1000 kilograms.
With a diameter of 1,392,000 km and a mass of 2E27 tons, the sun (our closest star) is 1400 kilograms per cubic meter.
They aren't planets; planets reflect light instead of producing it. They aren't galaxies; galaxies are collections of stars. They are balls of *plasma*.

They are any celestial body that shines. Some of them are planets, some are actually distant suns, etc. From Pluto, the Earth and other planets would appear as stars. The sun would be just a bright light in the distant night sky.

Go outside at about midday and look up, up, up. There you will see a very bright object that we call 'The Sun'. That is a star.

Yes, they are balls of gas who are paid ridiculous sums of money to be in movies and TV shows. ;)
Seriously, though, here are some links:
