I write somthing and I think it just OK, BUT I WANT TO BE GREAT!! I'm 13 but I can write really well for my age. But somtimes I feel as if I am not writing as well I can. I feel like all of my work could be better but I don't know exactly whats wrong with it. I read alot, Stephen King,JKR,Lemony Snicket, and many others. And I absolutly adore writing!!!!!
But I just feel like I can do better!!!!
What do I do?!?!!!?
Are there any other exercises I can do besides reading and writting other short stories?

Read. Read things you don't normally to expand your pool of ideas; the more you know the better you can write about a wide range of subjects, even if you only plan on sticking to one genre. Sometimes elements of mystery novels can be applied to romance novels and sometimes historical events make a good basis for fantasy J.K. Rowling, for instance, drew off Nazi Germany while she was writing about the Death Eaters - both were a sort of cult after the extermination of everyone not pure-blooded.

While you read, pay attention to what the author does to keep your attention. Are the sentences written in a certain way? What words does he or she use? How does the author handle dialogue? How does he or she set up scenes?

Try not to self-edit while you're writing. Relax and let the ideas flow - no one cares if your first draft is crap because it's a first draft. There's plenty of time for rewriting afterwards, and there should be a lot of rewriting. Sometimes looking at a story for so long makes you blind to simple mistakes, so ask a friend to read it over for you or join a website like FictionPost.com to get critiques. If you don't feel comfortable sharing, put it away for awhile and reread it with fresh eyes a week later.

Spelling is very important. Grammar is the vehicle for your story. Having good grammar is the difference between driving cross-country in a polished limo and a rickety jalopy.

Expand your vocabulary. Read books that are slightly challenging and look up unfamiliar words. The bigger your word base is, the better you'll be able to describe events.

The website below also has good tips; I use it all the time.
Good luck!

Well first off I understand becasue i'm 12 and I write too. When ever I feel like that I try to pretend that my story isnt mine and usually I like it better or I can find the places I like best. Another way to get yyou mind off how bad your story is is to remmember the grass looks greener on the otherside but even your storys have some thing to them. Plus you can always write it on yahoo and ask for advice. Next I like to stare around the room usintg all my senses and and something usually comes to me I write it down and keep it even if it dosent make sense or i dont like it very much. Like if you hear an air-conditioning it could be a power or something if you see something you can turn it into something else. Then put some together it help writeing and you may even get a good idea to add to your story. oh an I would love to hear your story sometime i'm sure its not as bad as you think.

Sure, there's lots of things you can do. One book that has tons of good writing exercises is "WHAT IF"? Since it's a textbook, you might be able to get the 1st edition for next to nothing on amazon. Also, you can show your writings to someone who is already a respected writer who can give you feedback. I'd be careful to show my stuff to friends and relatives though because 1) they might not know much about writing and 2) they might say it's great just because they want to make you feel good.

This is just my opinion you understand, but your spelling is atrocious. You cannot formulate a simple sentence for beans and whenever you get in a hurry your spelling again goes nuts. You need to start concentrating more on the words you are writing (not writting) and absolutely is spelled just the way I spelled it (not absolutly). There is a spellcheck on this site, if you are not sure use it, if you still wish to become a writer, no publisher in existence will read past the first few times you have misspelled several words. Again, just criticism not being bad towards you personally, this is still my opinion.

My English teacher says one of the keys to writing well is to be well read. He says you need to read all different types of things, not just the series and authors you are interested in.

writing...good while I write it is probably to get out feelings, I do not probably inform any feelings to my household besides completely satisfied and humorous ones. But as for the unhappy miserable ones, I write down on paper. Just to inform a brief tale of my lifestyles.
