1990 Philadelphia Eagles. I could be mistaken on this but I think they were number one in total D, Passing D, Running D and Scoring D in the same season. All I remember is they had the best goalline stand in history. 7straight plays from inside the 3 and they stopped em. Don't remember who they were playing.
And because no one else mentioned them I have to say the Ravens Superbowl year. They won a playoff game when Dilfer only completed 4 passes. How do you do that?

Steelers defense of the 70's. Other teams may have had 1 standout year (85 Bears) but the Steelers did it for a decade & still rank very high in team defense every year.

Who Else, Monsters of the Midway 1987..... Baltimore came close, and so did Tampa Bay, but it is the Bears #1------Second is the Miami Dolphins in 1974 who's defence helped take them to a 16 - 0 season. Then the Ravens and Bucs
