I've got a limited budget, and don't mind a little cosmetic damage (scratches/scuffs), performance is more important to me, as I'd probably just scratch a new laptop anyway.
Could anyone suggest somewhere that does cheap, refurbished laptops?

You could buy a copy of Micro Mart computer magazine, it's only £1.99 and you will find numerous adverts. There are some excellent bargains in reconditioned as new laptops with a full warranty.Also a lot of brand new at discount prices. It's also a good magazine if you want to know a little more about how things work. Hope this helps

I buy used refurbished laptops and parts on ebay all the time, as much as my wife hates it when I spend the money.
I only deal with two models, they are very simliar, 1 gigahertz pentium 3's both with a decent graphics chip for moderate gaming, and full functioning ones can usually be found for less than $200, some cases less than $100 . great for some one who is on a budget.

As you can see parts for these models are plentiful and cheap, so if you have a problem, repairs are inexpensive.
I've bought two of the Dells. and one toshiba and they all work great. Both run Windows Xp smoothly.

Tiger Direct sells them but not cheap......bought one ...had for 6 years works great never a problem with it.......might google for cheap refurbished laptops and see what comes up......

Not sure if they`re in you price range,but a good many of those on E-Bay are re-furbished with good descriptions
