If you are interested in "classics", some books for a thirteen year old might be:
-Pride and Prejudice
-Wuthering Heights
-Jane Eyre
-To Kill a Mockingbird**--One of the best American books period.
-Sense and Sensibility
-HG Wells
More "pop" literature
-Meg Cabot
-The "Twilight" trilogy by Stephanie Meyers
-A Series of Unfortunate Events
-His Dark Materials Trilogy by Phillip Pullman. I cannot reccomend this highly enough. Probably the greatest fantasy of our time. Like Narnia or Harry Potter but on a completely different level.
-Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrel
-Wicked...there are some very "grown up" parts, but it's a good book. I read it when I was thirteen and loved it.

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
Jane Erye by Bronte
The Probable Future by Alice Hoffman
Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister by Gregory Maguire
The first two are classics. The Probable Future is an easy read. Confessions I think you would really like based on your age and gender.

I have answered this question so many times, I decided to dedicate a web site to answer this question. Here it is:
http://www.life-after-harry-potter.com
Included is a list of only the best sorcery fantasy books, grade reading level, a short review of each book, and a "reader's choice" list of favorite books.
I hope this helps.
