1. Old Testament Reason: The shame associated with "awareness."
2. Scientific Reason: Evolutionary development of the brain and cognitive function. Eventual understanding of the procreation process. Development of "protection" to shield our most "treasured" procreative assets from damage and natural elements.

You must have a large hat collection to cover yours.Unless you wear the same one everyday, although that would end up being rather smelly.Man has looked for shelter and worn animalskins from very early on in our evolutionary journey, funny though how some do not seem to have progressed much since these times. You do though as a human unfortunately have choice's,so why don't you just leave the house everyday with your genitals' exposed, then hopefully sooner rather than later you will be interned at a facility where you can let your little todger blow free in the wind everyday.

Not all humans all over the world cover up all the time. There are still tribal peoples around who (perhaps not always) walk around naked and feel no shame. Good on them. Some of them even view clothed people with suspicion, like clothes suggest you are different or have something to hide.
In the more temperate, cooler parts of the world, clothes are a necessity if you don't want hypothermia. They keep people warm in winter and stop white skin burning in the summer.
Not all people, even in the west, view wearing clothes and the covering of genitals and breasts as a must. There are nudists. It all depends on how you view nudity. If you think all nudity has a sexual element (which it clearly does not, since gender can easily be identified with one's clothes on) then you will frown upon public nudity. If you think it does not, then it would not bother you to see someone naked, or to be naked. There are clearly sexual undertones to "flashing" which is why we quite rightly find it shocking. But do we find the paintings of Reubens shocking? No.

Most of us (lol) cover our genitals because of our awareness that they are there. We shouldn't be able to survive cold weather without clothes --lol. Clothes are an evolution of the human race, things like clothes are why we've lasted so long and are able to survive through dramatically changing weather. We weren't born in houses either but it's obviously wise to make one and live in it. We weren't born with shoes, but it would hurt our feet if we always walked around without any, and it's not as sanitary.

Personally I do not want to be around a ton of naked people and I dont want to use gym equipment or sit in a seat after some naked person. We wear clothes because we were created smart enough to know that we wouldnt survive in the weather without them.

LOL, we could survive in the TROPICS without clothing.
My personal opinion is that men started covering their genitals because men are always so insecure about their junk. Then they made the women cover up because they couldn't stand that women don't have anything hanging out there about which to be insecure.
It is all pretty funny if you really think about it.

Modesty. Manners....and I sure don't want to see yours. Besides, I'm not putting my bare stuff on a chair where yours or anyone else's has been. How gross!!! Been to the nude beach...didn't need to see that. Ever.
And about the no fur-cold weather thing? Ever heard of hypothermia? Give it a go! Wonder what frostbite will take first that's not covered? Hmmmm......

Any man can tell you--safety first!
Without our equipment in working order, the species won't survive, so it's very instinctual to protect reproductive organs.

Humans were made with fur, we started wearing clouthes around the ice age and so our fur lessened, thats why we still have hair on our bodies.

If you want to try a winter with nothing on go ahead, test your theory. I cover my genitals, and everywhere else unless it at least 90 degrees. Why? Cos its rude to show your bottom unless youre married.
