I used to say pop when I was young and lived in the mid-west, then in my teens I lived down south and it was coke (everything was a coke, and then they'd ask you what kind of coke you wanted- didn't get this but whatever). Now living on the east coast I call it soda. Gotta go with where you are. It's easier than having to repeat and explain yourself repeatedly.

Weird I've had this discussion with my friends before because they all make fun of me for saying "coke" for all the soft drinks. I sometimes say pop or soda but mostly coke... My moms side is southern and my dads is from New York. Sounds like I got "coke" from the southern side. Good topic.

I say pop but soda is the same thing tecnically or you could just say, the name of the drink, can i have coke or sprite or dr, pepper. Or you can use both......soda pop!

I for some reason say soda when speaking of a pack and Pop when speaking of just one.

ive never said pop in my entire life, nyc pppl say soda, but that doesnt realli come up in conversation either, its either a coke, or a sprite or something

I say soda. I made a new friend who just moved to California from Michagan and she thought it was weird that we said soda instead of pop. lol : )
