my cousin is having her 2nd child, both are boys. We are throwing her another baby shower considering all her sons former baby stuff was burnt in their house fire. she's had a horrible pregnancy, a lot of suffering and a lot of pain, we want to make the shower a fun and amusing day for her, so i'm looking for some unique games to play at the baby shower. We played the melted candy bars in the daiper and you have to figure out what candy bar is in the diaper at my shower, so what others besides that can we play.

Here are some games I did for my best friend's shower:

Hang the Laundry:
Hang a clothes line or long string at the shower. Have a basket full of cloth diapers (you can buy them cheap by the dozen at Wal-Mart).and clothespins. Each guest has a certain amount of time to hang the diapers while they are holding a baby (doll) and have a cordless phone to their ear. The ones that can hang the most clothing without dropping baby or the phone wins.

Measure Mommy:
Pass out yarn, string, or toilet paper and have the guests take off the amount they think will fit around the expectant mother’s tummy.

Draw the Baby
This baby shower game requires paper plates, pencils/pens, and a timer. First, the guests will put their initials (or name) on one side of the plate. Then flip it over to begin. The guests have to draw a picture of a baby on the paper plate. The key is, the paper plate is on the top of their heads while they are drawing. They cannot stop and look at their drawing during this and have 2 minutes to complete. At the end of the 2 minutes, someone collects the paper plates (NOT the mom-to-be) and the mom-to-be is the judge and picks the one she likes the best.

Go to printableshowergames.com, you don't have to print the games but it will give you some good ideas. I had 2 baby showers because my family lives in Florida and I live in California and we played tons of games. We did the dirty diaper game like you mentioned. My favorite game was What's in the bag or tray? Here's how you play: Take a bag and put lots of baby stuff in it like baby lotion, a pair of sock, nail clippers, oil, wipes, pacifier, a diaper, bottle, bottle brush, etc. and everyone has 1 minute each to put there hand in the bag to feel for as much stuff as they can, the one with the most correct answers wins. Then the mother-to-be gets to keep all of the stuff in the bag. We also played it with all of the items on a try and we had 1 minute to look at the stuff then write the answers down. Both ways were fun.

Good luck and lots of fun to you!

Maybe make a new spin on the baby shower, instead of having the totally traditional, have a girlie day/baby shower. Maybe get someone to come in and give massages, or give them to each other, and do facials and pedicures, celebrate HER and all her accomplishments, since its been such a rough pregnancy. Then, after everyone is relaxed, open presents and have some decadent snacks, like chocolate covered strawberries! Wow, I think I just came up with a great plan for my own shower!! LOL Best of Luck!!

Here is a great list of games:

http://www.baby-shower-games-etc.com/baby_shower_games.htm

Baby Shower Game: Switch or Keep
Deal out a deck of cards to the guests. Each guest receives three cards. You might have to deal two decks. Keep two decks of cards for yourself. Yell out the cards. Those with corresponding cards then hand them to the hostess and grab a gift. There should at least be five gifts (non expensive, be creative). This gift can be kept by the recipient or taken by another person playing. The next card is called and the game continues with the gifts being passes around until the last card is called. The gifts are then opened by those who still have one. ENJOY!!!

Baby Shower Game: Taste It!
You buy 6 or more baby foods. Put a little of each on a disposable plate with a number written beside it. Each guest gets a sheet of paper with their guess as to what each number is....tough ones like sweet potatoes or blueberries are always toughies...it's always lots of fun to watch peoples faces when they taste peas or squash. Baby Shower Game: Tag a Name
If the mother does not have a name already picked out simply put an admired name for both a boy and girl or one or the other on the gift tag of the present bought for baby. This game has helped some of my friends pick beautiful names that they never dreamed of. It is so easy to get confused with so many names out there to choose from.

Baby Shower Game: Tray of baby items-with a twist
Purchase several baby items (diaper, bottle, pacifier, comb etc) before shower and arrange them all on a tray. Have the mom-to-be pass the tray around then find a reason to excuse herself. Once she is gone the hostess tells the guests to write down as many things as the Mom-to-be was wearing (color outfit, hair accessories, earrings etc). This will shock your guests because they are expecting to write down the items. They were probably not looking at the mom so it will be tough, but fun. Baby Shower Games: Top

Baby Shower Game: The Bag Game
You'll need large paper bags (you can get them free at the grocery store!)

Give all your guest a bag and have them to place the bag over their head. Then ask the participants to take off something they really don't need. It may sound boring but it is so funny when you see women taking off rings, shoes and even clothing not thinking it's the bag on their head that they really don't need. And of course whomever takes off the bag first is the winner! And the participants who still have the bag on, you continue to ask them to take off something they really don't need, if the participants still don't get the hint just tell them without laughing too loud to take that silly bag off their head(s). Baby Shower Game: The Baby Was Conceived
This is really not a game - It is just pure fun and the guests can get involved. Have one of the hostess write down everything the mother-to-be says when she opens a gift. After all the gifts are opened, read the comments out loud and explain that everything she said when she opened the gifts were the things she said the night her baby was conceived.

To let the guests be involved and to take away some of the pressures of the hostess let the guests write down what the mother-to-be says when she opens the gift they brought.

Baby Shower Game: T-Shirt Designers
Not really a game but a fun activity for everyone. The hostess provides onesies or t-shirts for baby - different sizes so baby has some as he/she grows. Also, hostess provides cardboard for inside of t-shirts and fabric paints.

Guests are asked to design a t-shirt for the new little one. Could be a favorite sports team, favorite pastime of Mom or Dad or a cute baby theme. The new Mom receives the t-shirts for baby after they dry. Baby Shower Games: Top

Some we did at my sisters shower:

How many squares of toilet paper will it take to wrap around her expanded waistline?

Who can diaper the baby fastest? (we rubbed chocolate frosting on the butts of plastic baby dolls, and diapered them with preemie diapers. Then guests had a competition to see who could clean up and rediaper the baby fastest. You could even make them apply diaper rash ointment if you want)(another variation on this is to make them do it one-handed while preparing a baby bottle with the other hand, or make them do it on their laps)

Which guest can drink a baby bottle fastest? (some filled with milk, others with juice, it was hilarious!)

We also handed guests 5 clothespins when they entered. Every time someone aid the word 'baby' the first person to notice it got to take a clothespin from them. The person with the most pins at the end of the shower won a nice door prize.

eh, I wouldn't play the "measure mommy" game if I were you, it's usually pretty humiliating for the mom to be, especially if she's self conscious of her pregnancy pounds (and what mom to be isn't) stick to games that focus more on the much anticipated arrival and less on her.
