Your battery is dead. It can be loose or corroded battery cables. Check them first. The clicking noises are because there is not enough power to keep things energized. It may be that the alternator is not charging or the battery just wore out. I had the problem 2 weeks ago. I replaced the battery and have had no further problems.

Sounds like a battery problem, have the battery checked. The clicking tells me that there is very little power in your battery so pushing the brake or you elec seat control causes even more drain on the battery to operate the brake lights, power seat etc, thereby causing the battery to not even have enough 'juice' to make it click. Also a bad battery will not hold its charge so when you jump it and then shut it off there's not enough power to restart. Maybe getting the battery fully charged might do the trick rather than just jumping it. Check the battery terminals and clean them good as a poor connection will act the same way as you describe and not allow the charging system to keep your battery charged once it has been fully charged.

You either have loose or corroded connections at the battery terminals or the battery is just dead. Car batteries only have a life of about three years so if your battery is around that old then change it out. Your alternator is running fine. You can tell because when you jump started the car it ran fine because it was getting the electrical current it needed from the alternator just like it should. Some peole may say that the alternator is not well because it's not charging the battery but when the battery is old enough it won't hold a charge anymore so all the charging in the world won't make a difference.

Flat battery, not necessarily faulty. Maybe you left the lights on.
Get a boost start and see if she starts, put a voltmeter across the battery terminals, should see 13v-14v. If less than that, suspect the alternator / charging system.
Drive her round for a good while, park up and try again in the morning. If still a problem then get the battery checked.
Do not replace the battery without checking everything else you could just be throwing money away.

your battery is dead . oh ! when was the last time you changed your battery because it will last for about 3 years give or take 1 year depending on your car usage. but if you have a new battery your alternator might have a problem you need a technician to check that, you can also visualy check the battery post it could be corroded give it some tap and wash away the corrosion with water i used to do that with my beat up pickup. the clicking black box is actually the relay array

It sounds like your battery is shot. Jumping it and running it for ten minutes will not charge it, meaning it is probably not chageable. Get a jump and go to Sears or Wallmart and have a new battery installed.

It's either your battery or your alternator. That black box is a fuse box for your car and one of your fuses probably shorted out. It's not expensive. Just ask one of your mechanically knowledgeable neighbors to check it out for you. Don't let a mechanic touch it. He'll tell you about a whole bunch of problems that aren't really the reason and charge you for it. Good luck.

Your alternator is bad. If you want to try a cheaper fix first replace your voltage regulator. Easy to find and replace and much cheaper that alternator. Prolly the alternator, but Ford's and voltage regs. You can have the alternator checked most anywhere without taking it out of the car, if its good, voltage reg. Could always be just the battery, check all these things.

If you jumped it and it started then you have a bad battery. Replace the battery and have the charging system tested.
