What type of spider looks like a wolf spider only its black?

My friend saw a spider that looks like a wolfspider only skinnier legs and it was black

There are a couple of very dark wolf spiders, and also a couple of dark brown or black wandering hunters that look a bit like wolf spiders. You'd need to give a better description (size, color patterns, anything particularly noteworthy) as well as where you saw it and what it was doing. A photo obviously would be best.
