If not... How would you react if your partner / significant other started smoking?

I haven't since July 1, 2007. My husband does occasionally and meeting him at the door with the fire extinguisher gets my point across. I do not give him too much grief, because I know how hard it has been for me to quit....

I smoke on and off. Mostly socially. Even as a smoker, if I had a significant other who did not smoke, but decided to start, I would advise against it. Of course they are an adult and can make their own choices, but I would remind them of how many times I have said I wish I had never started because it really is that hard to quit. I would offer to quit with them, in order for them to never start.

Haven't had a cig in over 3 years, but occasionally splurge on a cigar. My partner doesn't smoke but if he started I don't know if I would put up with it, it's a disgusting habit and I don't want to be with someone that doesn't care about their health.

No - never have and never will. I'm allergic to it. If my SO started smoking, I'd tell him to move out - it's putting my health at risk from my allergies and the second hand smoke. Someone who doesn't respect my health and wishes isn't someone I should be living with or even dating.

I smoke cigarettes daily. My boyfriend doesn't really approve; he has licked his own habit in the past, and asks that I don't smoke in the same room as him. For him to pick up smoking cigarettes again would be almost like a death wish for him; he has heart disease and diabetes that has both taken him pretty close to one leg in the grave a couple of times. If smoking marijuana was legal, I'd give up cigarettes in a heartbeat!

I only smoke at pubs/bars (three or four cigarettes a week). If my girlfriend started, I'd only be concerned if she smoked on a daily basis.
But to each their own I say.

No and thankfully my partner don't either, and other smokers I don't really care less, long as they don't smoke near me in a non smoking area.

No, I don't, and if my boyfriend or whatever started, I might end the relationship, but mostly I think I would just ask him not to smoke around me.

I do not smoke, but my husband does. It bothers me, but after fighting about it for so long, I just gave up. He will only stop if he wants to. He always promised that he would quit, but I should have known better. Oh, well. It is what it is.

Nope. I quit last October. So it's almost a year.
If my SO started smoking, I would harp on them until they either got tired of it and left, or they quit smoking.
