5 - 9 < - x + 3x
- 4 < 2x
x > - 2

Add x-5 both sides
5-3x + (x-5) < 9-x+ (x-5)
-2x < 4
add (2x -4) both sides

-2x + (2x -4) < 4 + (2x -4)

-4 < 2x
Divide by 2 both sides.
-2 < x
x > -2.

5-3x < 9-x

-3x + x < 9 -5

-2x < 4

2x >-4
x>-2
so answer is all x stricly greater than -2
