Sprinkle a bit of baking soda around the entire carpet

take it to the car wash and use there vacuum - more power

Get under the seats it will puddle there,

once you get it good - park it in the sun with the windows 1/2 down.
That will keep the inside somewhat warm, but let air flow through. And should kill the smell at the same time.

Lift them up from the floor as much as you can to speed drying. If they are glued down, I guess you can't. Then run a pistol hair dryer in the car on med.heat and close the windows most of the way. You want to build up the heat inside in order to dry the carpets.
Let the hair dryer run all night(maybe 2 or 3 nights). for the carpets to dry out.
It was my only solution as I had water leaking into my car and under the carpet into the underlay during the winter. I lifted the carpets and the underlay so that air could get everywhere....which sped the process.

You can also go to the store and get a container of damp-rid. It is a small bucket with crystals that pull moisture right out of the air. Check it every so often and dump the excess water. Secure it so that it won't fall over though.

If not then leave the windows cracked or open for several hours a day until they do.

If i were u, i'd take the carpet off the car and leave it to dry outside. The sour smell is actually bacterial and the smell wont go away if u leave the damp carpet intact for a prolonged period

The moisture needs to be vented out of the car.

Open all the windows and put a box fan in one window blowing into the car and alow the air to exit the other side of the car.

Let the fan run ALL DAY.

You need to vaccuum and RE-CLEAN if the carpet is already souring. Then be sure the floor is dried as much as possible before using a fan or blower.
