I have an extremely tiny two gallon tank that has two female bettas in it that like eachother. i have a ten gallon also that is cycling right now. i want to keep 3 corys the ten gallon with about 5-10 tetras. can i put my two female bettas in there too? their other tank just seems too small for them now that they're older and full size. how can i move them safely. i have a bunch of other small tanks that i can move them in that is use when i clean my tanks, should i just do that? will bettas, catfish and tetras be okay in a ten gallon? should i just keep my bettas in their own tank and possibly get a bigger one so that they have more room? they are fine in their two gallon tank, i just want them to be in a bigger one. i used to have tetras with my female betta before and now i m just wondering about the catfish.

I suppose you could, but some tetra's are fin-nippers. Just make sure to research. If all the fish get along then here is a good tank setup:

3 cory cats
6 tetras
2 female bettas

All the fish you mentioned (female bettas, neon tetras and catfish) should be fine living together. Cory catfish are very peaceful and don't harm other fish, even the smallest of fry. I'm sure your bettas will appreciate a bigger tank. I keep my male betta in a 10 gallon tank with my juvenile guppy fry and he loves it. Just be prepared to keep them together if they get used to the company. I tried to separate my betta from the guppy fry (I thought they might be bothering him too much) and he went into a sulk until I put them all back together!

The safest way to move fish is to use a clear container instead of a net. That way they won't risk getting their fins caught on the edge or having any of their slime coat rubbed off by the fabric of the net when they thrash about. Also, they are never out of the water during the move. A small glass or plastic cup works fine. Just scoop them out and then lower the container into the new tank and let them swim out.

I agree with Ghost Shrimp Fan. It does depend somewhat on what type of tetra, but most would be ok. Also, the 2 bettas would be fine in a 2 gallon tank, as they don't have the same requirement for swimming space and oxygen in the water. Another aspect is that bettas generally prefer warmer water (around 80 degrees) than the others (about 75).

yes, your setup with the other fish is absolutely fine, they will get along with them

just take a plastic bag, like you get from the stores and scoop your betta's with the existing tank water where they're in right now into and float the bag for at least 2 hours, and about ever 15 minutes put a cup full of the new water into the bag, that way they get slowly acclimatet to the new conditions.

Also put lots of live plants into your 10 gallon tank

Also another recommendation would be buying another female, that way the 2 you have won't dominate the other.
They couldn't in the small tank, but they will in the bigger

Hope that helps
Good luck

As long as the tetras, or corys dont have shiny, long and flowy fins it might be okay. You could try putting them in but just watch them very carefully they could attack and/or nip the other fish. Maybe you could put the bettas in thier own 5 gallon? or a little bigger if thats the case.. What kind of tetras, I have Black skirts and i know they get 2" so which kind?? Cardinal, neon? I also have Flame tetras they are neat. :] Good luck -
p.s. Actually all bettas fight. Females and males here:
Male + Female = Fight
Male + Male = Fight
Female + Female = Fight
--* The only way females can be in the same tank, like you may see in pet stores is if they are born in the same litter, that may be why yours, and your aunt? or grandma? (sorry forgot who) get along. :]

they should be fine.. but introduce slowly to the new water so as to not shock them...
