The areas will regrow on their own. House may be built, as people find places that heretofore were uninhabitable.

That is a possibility as always near an urban area. Is the ground a good area for construction? Does the gov't have a reforestation plan in place? So many variables to look at. Someone may just think of it and suggest it.

I don't think so. There will be nothing left but ashes and dead trees, and it might take a year or two just to clean up the debris. I hope that they don't build anything on the land, and properly give the land back to mother-nature.

i heard they burn forests on purpose, because the damaged land is cheaper..... and they can buy in and build on it....no way they gonna re-forest the areas. it's sad but true:(

Most of the time the forest grow back. The fire burns away layers of dead grass and other plants and allows new plants to grow in their place. Nature's great at re-generating itself.

Antonis, not after a few months, but maybe after a year or so ;) Unfortunately this is what happenes usually in Turkey and as I understand in Greece.
