actually, they're pretty much in a tie, for being annoying. i've had fantasies about the mormons and the j's witnesses arriving at a door, at the same time, and fighting with each other, as to who is going to 'get' the souls.........

I too am LDS (Mormon) so a bit put off by the question. The JW's are annoying to me, since they have shown up at my door on Christmas day (since they do not celebrate Christmas).
Now that I've joined the LDS Church, I understand the Mormon missionaries a whole lot better. These are young men who work their teenage years, and save money to be able to pay for the privilage of going on a Mission. They serve the Church for two years (or more). During that time, they are only allowed two phone calls home to their families, during the year. Once on Christmas Day, and once on Mother's Day. (They can write letters home)
Those young men (and women) actually do amazing amounts of service. When we bought our farm, the Missionaries came and helped us clean up 13 TONS of trash from the previous owners. They also helped me pull a dead stinking sheep out of the ditch and burry her.
They also provide hours of service work at the LDS owned and run farms and canneriers. Most people don't have a clue how much food the Mormon Church grows and distributes to the needy. Did you know the Mormons where there 6 HOURS after Katrina ended? (With semi trucks of food, water and clothing) How many DAYS was it, before the local and federal government was there?
The Mormons use to annoy me before I joined the Church. Now that I am better informed, I admire the dedication of those young folks.

Being a Mormon I kind of take offense to that, But I would have to say Jehovah's witnesses. At least with the missionaries, they are easily identifiable, have no problem discussing other religions or issues and take no for an answer. The Jehovah's witnesses refuse to listen to anything you have to say about another religion, are very persistent and use deceptive practices such as having kids or elderly people come to your door to get you to open it.

Neither, I am not bothered by someone coming to my door and either talking with me or politely leaving if I don't want to talk. I am a Christian, one of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Are we a myth???
I loved the answerer who said we are deceptive because "they use children and the elderly". I recently read on here how awfull it is that "they make disabled people come to my door". It is not "making" these ones come. They are Witnesses too. While the Mormons are well known for their youths being the ones going from door to door, which is comendable, ALL ages go from door to door in my faith, it certainly isn't to trick people.

I'd have to give the "honor" to LDS. There is something deeply irritating about a 19 year old boy introducing himself to a mature woman by saying "Hi, I'm Elder Samuel."
Also, only LDS missionaries have dared to approach neighborhood children -- even missionaries should ask parents' permission before approaching children.
Of course, Elder Samuel and his outreach to children may have been the exception, not the rule. Sam didn't seem to have any training on avoiding the tactically deployed garden hose.

^I've never had Mormons ring my bell, but the Jehovah Witnesses used to all the time, one day when they rang my bell, I didn't open the door, I just told them I'm a pagan and to please go away, they mumbled something, left and never came back, that was over 20 years ago.
I don't have anything against anyones religion, just don't tell me yours is the one and only truth. There is room for all our beliefs.

It is an even race to me. My aunt in New York let both in her flat while I visited. I chased out the JWs by refuting the nonsense they uttered, but the Mormons were too dumb to even know they made no sense. If all else fails, I just lift a pest by the belt and carry him outside. I used to lift my 235 pound brother with one hand. They do not argue with a huge strongman like me.

It is a toss up. I think that invading someone's personal space, and forcing your religious beliefs on them is the height of arrogance. However, being a witch, I have pentagrams all over my porch and yard, so they usually think twice about bothering me. I do have to deal with the Mormons quite often though, as my inlaws are always sending the local missionaries here to convert us. They always look terrified standing on my porch, surrounded by my broomsticks, ravens, and other Pagan decor. BB

Anyone who comes to your house uninvited, at any hour,
and tries to tell you about their religion, is terminally irritating.
I think it is the height of rudeness and insensitivity to go
around telling people that if you don't believe the way they
do, you are dog poop, and that they are the only ones who
are saved/loved by "God"/the chosen ones.
I believe that there is no one true way, and that all beliefs
should be treated with respect and dignity.
And yes, I am a Wiccan. I will NEVER try to tell anyone
about my beliefs unless they asked me, and I will not
ever try to convert someone to my beliefs.
All I ask is the same from others. Lets live in peace and
let live.
