I don't think we should go executing women for having abortions as one fanatical nutcase said, but something even worse. Making them accountable for thier own actions (wow!) by yanking the "I'm helpless and had no choice" Card out of their hands.
Lets see, IUD diaphram, the pill, timing, abstinance, morning after pill, withdrawl, and condoms. Could you visualize men getting pregnant with a phethora of birth control options to protect our bodies, but openly blaming women for getting us pregnant while proclaiming "I'm a Proud Parent!" only to enjoy 18 years of child support from each woman who inpregnated us?
Never in a million years.
Their body, their choice, their responsiblity, Period.
Abortion should be punished by adoption. Yes, I'm blaming the ladies for irresponsibly opening their legs.

Time to live up to your responsiblities Girls. If you haven't had serious discussions about wanting Children "Now" with the "partner" you choose to sleep tonight then:
- Either close your f-in legs, use 3 methods of birth control, or deal with the problem yourself. Makes perfect sense on every logical, ethical, moral and "Equality" level.
Wake the F**k Up. All it takes is 1 word: "No."
Rape and heatlh risk are exceptions.

Brian Said: " how does she get the sperm? "
Great question Brian, 2 points for asking:
Ways to get sperm:
- Make choice to open legs
- Make choice to allow foreign object enter body.
- Make choice to avoid every possible level of birth control.
- Make choice to say NO because you suddenly remembered your on birth control, and you don't trust condoms.
Amazing, women want choices, well in this case they have them all. Now why was it you're not 100% responsible for getting pregnant?
You wouldn't accept responsiblity for egging on your boyfriend to drive fast only to have him kill innocent children now would you? Would you want to pay restitution for 20 years as a result of his bad choices? I don't think so, do you?

Sangria: Your intentions are honorable, but part of the problem in the first place - being gov't intervention.
Gov't intervention creates single family homes, the breeding grounds of 90% of teenage pregnancies, (along with male rapists, drug addicts, killers, low education, low paying jobs, etc)
The solution is and will always be less gov't intervention, and holding women responsible for the choices that affect their bodies.
To those women who say my body my choice, indeed, and your responsiblity too.

Little boy? $10.00 bucks next time I see you for making me feel young.
jmminnc, chilvary is dead, this is a discussion about giving women the responsiblity they want. The reason I've left the "men" out of it, is simple. Men are always the scapegoats of unwanted pregnancies, and I call major doublstandard. You're illusioned into believing western man's role is still "protector / provider" when its long been reduced to (commonly stated) "sperm donar meal ticket."

Sangria, educate yourself instead of tossing out media propaganda.
90% of "dead beat dads" live on incomes under $10,000.00 per year, well below the poverty line. (Many of the from non-caucausion ethnic groups with disadvantages)
40% of "deadbeat moms" earn more than 40K per year. Get your facts straight.

Jake said: "I don't need a lecture. I'm a Real man and I believe that it's the mans responsibility"
Jake, the lecture is in your head, the points made are valid, there isn't 1 good argument, and you’re living in 1977, not 2007. Claiming you’re a Real man admits 3 things;
A You’re delusional in thinking the term still exists for anything other than “shaming tactics” to shut men up when confronting issues of fairness.
B. By believing pregnancy is mans full responsibility, you’ve undermined 40 years of work by women to achieve equality by simply stating they are not capable of the same responsibility as men.
C. Finally, you fail to see the western male’s role of protector / provider has been replaced by big gov’t intervention, and you are now considered a “sperm donor meal ticket.”
So next time you think age = wisdom, think again – your clued out “complacent” generation ****** up western society on all levels by voting in big gov't.

Neptune2bsure darling: Its nothing about fun sunshine, it’s about responsibility. Didn’t your mother teach you to be responsible first, and have fun later? Of course she didn’t.
The rape argument was addressed in the original post, and claiming “they both had fun” is like claiming they both had fun driving dangerously, that is until he the driver killed 3 children. Now wouldn’t it be fair to hold “her” equally responsible for enjoying and even coercing the joy ride? How about forcing her to pay a large percentage of her income for the next 20 years to pay restitution? Hell no! We’d all call her a Victim!
See the double standard?
The bottom line is power, and the abuse of it. Women abuse it, and men are (especially older ones as seen in this thread) too clued out to realize it.

All they have to do is change the non-support laws and make women keep and support the child and you'll see them use the female condom every time! By the way women can become pregnant without a man being present! Why must adoption be the only option? Make them keep the child instead of allowing them to relinquish it!

I am finding this all a little strange because I have always believed that two people having sex "can" result in an unwanted pregnancy. To blame one of those people for that is simply unacceptable.
To suggest that men would be so responsible that they would not become pregnant because of all the contraception available is even stranger as it is a well known fact that a male under 23 is the least able to predict the consequences of his action and the most likely to do something stupid.
I'm sorry but unwanted pregnancies will always occur and if for no other reason than the fact that all species on earth have an inbuilt urge to ensure that species survival.
There are many reasons for unwanted pregnancies but blaming any section of humanity or any individual is not the answer.

So you mean a woman shouldn't have sex without wanting a kid from the guy?
Just tell me, how many times have you had sex and not thought about the consequences? Well, men don't have to. Women do. Because they can get pregnant. The guys can just run off. If you were the one who could get pregnant, you wouldn't write any of this. I mean, sex is meant to be fun or whatever, not JUST a way to reproduce. You're basically saying that no women should hop into bed with ANYONE unless they would make a good potential father. Ok, lets play a game. Women only have sex to guys who would make a good daddy, but you only get in bed with any girl if you want a kid from them. see? same thing. you would complain too.

Well darling you sure have a lot to say, and it all comes down to "you want all the fun", did no one ever tell you that there is NO contraceptive methods that are 100% guaranteed. Except for abstinance of course, and even there one could get raped and get pregnant right? But you did say those women were excempt. Of course what woman would want a rapist to support or even know her child, and yes not all women who get pregnant after being raped aborts.
Your views are very one sided and malistic. You talk about women as if they are made of wood with no feelings, young women in particular are taken advantaged of by guys like you with empty promises that the naive believe like: "don't worry honey if you get pregnant we'll get married" this is usually at the last minute when both partners realize they forgot to pack a concom and so on... You see you are wrong you don't want to make babies but want to have sex, carry your own condoms then.
Why is it the girls problem didn't you have fun too, and not expect anything further too? Do you think that a woman would have sex for the single reason of impregnation? what is wrong with you?
You mustn't be getting too much love then eh? I feel sorry for people like you, two plays two pays. Sorry that is the law, I know I had a no good for nothing biological father who left my Mom after 6 years of play for free, and oh yes all kinds of promises were made and vows vowed, but its still my Mom that kept us together as far as the no account, he continued his life not even acknowledging our existance there is nothing lower on the human chain.

I will go ahead and back up Sangria on this one.Back when abortion was illegal their was a black market for it,and a very unsafe way of getting one as well. However,I don't think abortion should be used as a form of birth control.I think in order for them to get an abortion they should first show proof that they were on birth control. If they were not on birth control then they should be denied unless the woman's health is in danger or she was raped. If she claims she was raped it has to be reported to the police. If she refuses to have it reported then it is proof that she is a liar.If she is denied an abortion and can't afford to raise a child she can always give it up for adoption. The pain of giving birth should should at least tell her to use birth control next time. Also, putting the responsibility only on women is just wrong as well.Men also have the choice to use condom's and if they get a girl pregnant and she decides to keep it then it is a mans responsibility to take care of that child too.Because only a real man can support their kids. They also have the choice of keeping it in their pants. And if you have a kid you take care of it.That's life.

I think both parties are responsible.
Men know what can happen if they don't use a condom.
I do think women have a little more responsibility though since they can take a pill or a shot , but the man should still use a condom if he doesn't know for sure that she's on somethin...Anyway sounds like you're prettty mad..try to stay calm.
Does someone have you by the balls for the next 18 years? Just a question..personally I don't care if they get pregnant or go on Maury ,sayin' it was him I'm 100% sure!..its not my biz.

I don't need a lecture. I'm a Real man and I believe that it's the mans responsibility. I know that if I don't use a condom there is a chance that the woman could get pregnant. If I choose to have sex, I am responsible for my actions. I would have to pay child support, medical bills ect. Wise up and acknowledge that you must be responsible and don't be blaming the woman for your ignorance. I don't want to hear any of your stupid comments because you appear to be a fool. You can't justify it by saying it's the womans fault because she spread her legs. God gave you a brain, trying using it, instead of blaming the woman. I'm 56 years old and I used common sense and avoided getting a woman pregnant. ..

Please, wake up to reality. Ban abortion and/or make it a criminal act and women will just find another way to HAVE one and be more sly about getting it. Criminalizing it will only create an abortion "black market", if you will.
You wanna stop life from being killed? You can start by promoting sexual education classes. Then, you can fight for affordable/free birth control for everyone. I still have to pay $30 ON INSURANCE each month for the Ortho-Evra patch. I'm a full-time student and work part-time, so yeah, it's kind of a strain on me.
Finally, above all else, begin to foster and encourage a "culture of life" in America and abortions will be rarer. The majority of women who decide to have abortions do so because they cannot afford the cost of raising a child. Healthcare and child-care costs can be alleviated through governmental assitance, but even then many fail to qualify.
Also, if you get those dead-beat Dads to pony up and start paying for their children, perhaps a woman can afford to raise a child by herself!
I'd like to know where you got those stats. Also, let's talk about government intervention, shall we...? What group, exactly, is promoting intervention (GOVERNMENT intervention) in a woman's decision to abort her fetus? I can respect the consistency of that message of "non-governmental intervention" if it applies both ways and not just yours.

Way to go - put ALL the responsibility on the women. Do all pregnancy happen because someone puts a gun to a guys head or are they immaculate conceptions? I am against abortion but here's a news flash - Men have sex too!! There is abstinence or a thing called a 'condom'. Its cheap and easy to use.

All the punishment in the world won't save as many unborn lives as providing a better option than abortion. Women should have the right to terminate an unwanted pregnancy and the unborn should have the right to their potential lives ... and the medical establishment should be developing the technology needed to make that possible.
Voters should not have to support one injustice or the other. We should demand justice and equal opportunity for all.
