Do you believe that conservatives, on the whole are evil?

I'd like to commend everyone for the tone of the answers in this question. Too often, questions like this deteriorate to shrill attacks, especially on this forum (one of the reasons I stopped posting for a while).

Your answers, on the whole, are also reassuring, and I find it very funny how I would generally use the same replies when asked the flip question on how I view liberals.

Likely motivated by fear of "others" and a "me first" interest in government.
Likely not putting any mental work toward critical thinking.

Willing to accept and spread "talking points" if they sound clever enough. Political discourse with like minded individuals involves snickering over clever talking point slogans and highly personal smears toward opposition party Office Holders.

The "average" conservative doesn't exist. That's the first misconception. No two conservatives are alike just like no two liberals are the same.
Only very mediocre minds are unable to see people are individuals first.
Conservatives as a whole aren't more or less evil whatever that term means to you than any other group.I disagree with their political views and that's the only thing they have in common. To generalize about their morality based on political affiliation I leave to those who think that's useful.

I don't think the average conservative is evil. The average conservative just doesn't agree with the average liberal on the solutions to societies problems.

I believe the 'average' conservative has a rigid world view that is so fragile that facts cannot be permitted to enter. It's very heartbreaking. Since I live in a red state and since we homeschool, I have many conservative friends. Obviously, I think they're nice; they're my friends. But, they are very well defended against doubt, facts, opposing information. It's really beyond my comprehension.

My bro in law is an fbi agent. Wonderful man. Decent, hardworking, devoted to family and country. But, when he got into a debate with my father, a retired military veteran who is very liberal, this decent fbi agent started screaming 'f... you' at my dad. Because he couldn't answer the facts my dad gave, he had to resort to ad hominem attacks. I see this all the time.

In addition, the conservative homeschoolers we meet who know right off that we are liberals and so don't allow us in to their circles are downright hostile - including to my children, including instructing their children to be hateful to my children. I tell my kids, "They're just overflowing with the love of Christ." But it really does hurt my youngest son's feelings. He doesn't get it. And, as good liberals, since we've taught him to love his enemy, to treat others as he wants to be treated, and to think always think, it's very challenging for him.

Tho it hurts verrry much to see my son treated like that, I guess facing challenging realities will prevent him from ever being your 'average' conservative.

Like the american communists who wanted to deny the evils of stalin to remain 'true' to the cause, the average american conservative has aided and abetted the evil of the bush adminstration. Unlike people of the left who are open to new ideas and remorseful over their mistakes, I don't know how the average conservative will ever be able to deal with the knowledge of the grave damage they have allowed to happen to our constitution, our society, the world community, etc.

The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.

I'm not sure I'm still a Liberal, but I once identified with that label, so I'll try to answer.
No, I don't think the average conservative is evil.
I do think that the far-right, and religious right are dangerous to democracy.
I look at the normal conservative voter, as another American exercising his right to choose who he/she will vote for, and I think that more conservatives do actually vote, than do people who call themselves liberals, but don't bother to follow through on their beliefs by casting a ballot.

I have some friends who are conservative. They're kind, caring people. I don't believe that they are evil. The ones who are,are the ones working in the white house.

I don't believe that there's such a thing as an "average conservative." People are individuals. I also don't use the descriptor "evil" to describe people based on their political leanings; that's ridiculous. Evil is a religious concept. It has no place in politics.

No, I don't think they are evil. I believe that some are naive and have limited world view. However, I believe everyone is entitled to their personal opinion.

I don't believe that conservatives are born evil. I do think the evil arises once elected.

They are good "God fearing" people that simply dismiss the poor track record of their Republican leaders in balancing the budget, corporate welfare, not enforcing laws, and foreign policy, their biggest blunders.
