he does it constantly, and I don't know why he does it?? He frequently chews up the collar of his shirt and tears it to threads. How do I get him to stop. Grandpa recommended I put bleach on his shirt and make him taste it as punishment?

Are you trying to posion the kid? Don't put bleach on his shirt! Tell him that it's not healthy or something like that. Or tell him you'll give him a small peice of candy if he doesn't chew his shirt for the day.

Well, it's a sign of something, but I don't know what. Abnormal tastes can mean a particular mineral deficiency, like eating ice means you're low on iron, but I don't know what eating cloth means. I'd start with his pediatrician and if he doesn't find anything try some child counseling.

take a habanero cut it in half. rub the inside of the pepper on the collar and I can guarantee he'll stop chewing it, or grow up to be a chili connoisseur.

My son AND daughter did that. They both grew out of it, but it was bothersome!! When ever you catch them..politely ask them to stop...sometimes they don't even realize they're doing it. Get them some gum. Good luck!

vicks vapour rub, bleach will damage his clothes , well what he a has left
you cant give a 6 year old gum!
you would be peeling it off bloody everywhere!

don't actually do that. but tell him you will. it got me to stop bitting my nails. Hopfully, he'll be scared enough to stop.
