I've obliterated the 1 hour of cooking and the 1 hour of cleaning. and 4 hours on the couch in exchange for sitting in front of this computer. Yes, I've wasted much of my time, when I should have been doing something else

1. & 4. If you are more than an "hour" from work. You need to
move closer to work. to save time and gas.
2. Eight hours. Five days a week is "normal."
3. Cooking. Since most people are on the "fast track." these
days. Your lucky to have a home cooked meal twice a week.
4. Most people do not clean everyday.
5. Many people do not "require" eight hours sleep a day.
6. Many pople do not sit on the "couch" for four hours. Many
have hobbies or "homework" to do.
So, "recalculate" your formula, and "get a life." <}:-})

Someone once told me that life`s too short for everything you`d like to achieve, so be reasonable. Well, by reading your question, it makes me even more sceptical of that.

The timetable you have given us is far too average for a person. An ambitious person would tend to work more than to sleep.

Well you have a nice list there, but I`m sorry to state again that I`d prefer it to be on an individual-basis rather because everybody is not the same realistically!

Yes and most of us aren't even aware of this fact. Our waking life has two components ie events we can control and events beyond our control. With prioritization , proper sequencing and time management, we can save up to 40-50 percent of our time on the former ,which we can utilized either to enhance our productivity or our leisure activities, including the much needed sleep and social interaction.

Well, if you consider going to and from work, working, cooking, cleaning and sleeping a waste, then I guess so. Looks to me like we only have 4 hours to actually waste.

dang, that's harsh!

I never thought of it like that---if you put it that way, yes, people waste most of their lives.
That's why people "live" for the weekends, I guess!
