i think that one way to cope with a tragedy,
is to try to find a lesson in it.

and i think that if you've been thru something tragic, that another person has not , that it is possible to have a deeper 'understanding' of the situation.(how a mother feels losing a child ,could only truely be comprehended by the women who've suffered that loss(God Bless ,Them) so,to some extent ,this rings true.
BUT i'd like to hope that most of us can swallow our pride ,and listen to the advice of others ,as a means of avoiding a certain particular tragedy, altogether. (i.e.looking both ways before crossing a street)

Idk.. it's early, the coffee hasn't set in, and i'm not feeling particularly profound yet, this morning
I hope i made some kind of sense, tho.
Peace,
~Laurie

Not everytime, but I believe that when someone experience a tragedy, that person lerans the lesson in less time and thinking than another person learning the same lesson with a small amount of bad things happening. But There's some person who won't learn anything without a tragedy happening and others who learn from the smallest things of life.

With some people I think a tragedy is the only way to open thier eyes and make them see what the lesson is. Sometimes it only takes a minor accident for someone to learn his/her lesson. Just depends on the situation and the person. Some people you cannot tell what the downsides of whatever they are doing for they believe you don't know what you are talking about and blow you off. So therefor, this is the ones that you have to let be and let them fall on his/her own face to make them wake up and smeel the coffee beans.

Not necessarily. People are equally capable of learning lessons from the tragedies experienced by other people. This is a much less painful way to learn the lessons of life.

We do learn a lesson from each tragedy we experience.

Maybe not a tragedy, but some type of crisis.
I went through that a few months ago. Clinical depression really messed up my thinking. I even was put in a hospital for 3 days (against my will)
Because of my best friend/sweetie, my personal physician, my counselor, and my psychiatrist I am feeling great about myself and I've planned a great future for myself.

Some people have natural empathy...but I do feel that one cannot relate to others, even if they try, if they haven't experienced certain situations...not necessarily tragedy, but "trials.."..working through difficult circumstances and succeeding. It also builds confidence, and helps us to realize the "rain falls on the just and the unjust."

Yes, without a doubt. Like losing someone very close to you before you fully appreciate that person.
