was going down the road and felt as if lost power or cut off gave it a little pat on the throttle and it did fine after about 2 miles it shut down and would not start again. I can hear the fuel pump come on and the sparkplug has a spark between the wire and plug. What could be the problem?

Jumped timing chain, not "enough" spark or most likely low fuel pressure. Pump worn out or fuel filter stopped up.

You can see if it's fuel realted by buying a can of "carburetor cleaner". Spray it in the intake as close as you can get(not at the air cleaner) for 5 seconds or so and crank it. If it starts and dies or attempts to start it's a fuel problem.

WARNING:::::::::::: If it's timing related it may backfire through the intake spitting the carb cleaner back out and igniting it.

ONLY try this with a fire extinguisher or garden hose handy.

5 seconds of carb cleaner won't "burn" enough to do any damage in the 1/2% chance something were to go wrong.

Prefer 2 people also.

Friist how many miles have you got on the truck. If it is less than a 15000.00 miles. Have the oil presure chached. To make sure are get proper reading. You are mostly run 10 W 30 weight oil. 20 W 50 in the summer. This will bring the oil presure up. If it is wear on the engine. If the Tec; say you need a oil pump. Then I would put one in. If you don't it could cause you a motor.

Did you run out of gas? You could have a clogged fuel filter, and also check the distributor too. Or find a good shop and have them put it on a computer and they could tell you.

Just because you can "hear" the fuel pump, doesn't mean it pumping fuel at the proper pressure.

It may simply be worn out. Have it tested for proper operating pressure.
