Photojournalism is essentially photography for a media outlet - newspaper, magazine, etc. Photojournalists still have to come up with their own captions, normally, so writing skills are important... but the obvious focus is taking high-quality pictures.

In order to become a sportscaster, there's a couple of different things you should do. Once in college, be sure to get on the campus TV station - most every university has one. Getting clips is going to be the most important thing you could do, and although you won't get the highest quality clips here, it's a start; your foot in the door.

If you can, try getting an internship at your local TV station. Most of the time, you can even get college credit for this. That way, you can learn about what goes on behind the scenes, and, if you're lucky enough, you can build up a couple more clips. It looks great on your resume too.

Beyond that, just keep up with all sports - know what's going on in all the major leagues, and follow a traditional journalism path in college.

A photojournalist is someone who primarily works in photos and video (a photographer, camera guy), while the term journalists is most often used to describe a writer or newscaster. However, a researcher and report writer could also be called a journalists. Many people, especially those working at smaller papers and magazines have to worry about writing and photos, and the fit-all term journalist fits best.

There are three main ways to becoming a sportscaster. First, be a former pro or college player. Second, you could be someone very knowledgeable about the subject, like say, a longtime sportswriter or sports columnist. Third, you could go to college to get a broadcasting degree (telecommunications, it's usually called) and try to start as in intern at a TV or radio station and work you way up the food chain.

I'm sure there are other ways, but just about everyone I've met who does it is one of those or fits into more than one of the categories.
