Im tempted to get a rabbit only problem is its a rule for no pets.I checked with the manager about having parakeets and she said those were ok to have long as they were in their cage.Well a rabbit will be in the cage too and I dont think they could do much harm to an apartment.Should I just get one cause I really dont think they will be much of a problem.

Rabbits are a lot of work. They also will shed a few times a year. They also will chew anything that they can, including woodwork and the corners of walls and furniture. If you can't have pets, get this cleared with the landlord. You need to go to the houserabbit society webpage and look up about the care and handling and feeding of rabbits if you have never had one. They are great pets, but not as easy as you might think, and they are very very smart. They can figure out all kinds of ways to make you crazy! I have had several, and it amazes me what they can do. If you get one, you have to keep all the electrical cords up where they can't chew them, and watch the rabbit all the time. Keeping it in a cage while you are at work is okay, but when you get home, you will need to let it out to run around and play with you. Mine will jump on the couch for some cuddle time, and run around and play ball, used to chase the cat when I had one, and did all kinds of things, then when it was time to go back into the crate it would ring the bell I had to come close the door. But this was an adopted rabbit someone else had trained and couldn't keep. You might try adopting a rabbit from the humane society if the landlord said you could have one. That way you don't have to break it in. They use litter boxes, just get a female rabbit so it doesn't "spray", or have a fixed male. They come in all sizes, and the big ones are more cuddley I think.

Don't do it if the landlord says no, cos it would be hard to get rid of if he catches you.

You're trying to rationalize your want for a rabbit, even though you know it's wrong. A rabbit is NOT a parakeet.

Ask yourself this - if you got a puppy or a kitten, and kept it in a cage all the time, would it be OK then? You know the answer is "no".

A rabbit can chew the heck out of an apartment. Unless you keep it in a cage all the time (which I find cruel). Just get a bird

I would go for it, but I would ask the landlord if a rabbit it okay. True, they are in cages, but they do smell if you don't clean the cage. If you clean the cage AT LEAST once a week, if not twice a week, you should be fine. Check with your landlord though, because you don't want to be evicted.

I use to live in a house where the landlady's son had a rabbit and although they dont make any noise or anthing they STINK up the basement. Their urine and poop stink that is why people who have rabbits has backyard and keep them out there. They smell too much.

I wouldn't think an apartment would be a fair environment for a rabbit. Don't you think they need the outdoors?
