Why are people so mean... to handicapped people.. they can't help it?

Ive never seen anyone being mean to a handicapped person, could you give an example of what you are talking about?

I think some folks stare too much or show signs of inpatients if someone is slowing them down. Human nature, people just get too caught up into their own world. My 14 year old niece was recently in an accident and is now a paraplegic. The local community has been very supportive. I just hope the outside world treats her the same.
