I know you have had the ball **** changed three times but on my over flow pipe when it drips I know it's time to renew the washer. It is a small black rubber bung about 1/2 inch wide on the end of the piece going into the bit in the tank wall. Is it possible that your 'men' haven't replaced this? The other reason could be that the ball is not twisted round enough so that the water fills to a point lower down so that it doesn't overflow

It must be the water tank that supplies your copper tank is overflowing slightly. This tank is usually situated in the attic or on top of the copper tank. The water level is too high and the ball valve needs adjusting or replacing. I aaume this is the overflow you are talking about. If it is the overflow on the toilet, then the same applies.

There is a mark in the cistern which is the water level. If it is too high reduces the level by adjusting the ball valve. If it still keeps filling slowly the valve is worn. The best bet is to get a new valve/arm unit from a DIY store. Trying to renew the washer in the thing rarely works properly.

Ball valve needs adjusting ... take the lid off the w.c. .. push the ball down in the water a little bit & tighten the plastic nut up the threded bolt until it holds the arm in place .
then check that the water level is below the overflow pipe level when it refills
sounds complicated but it is not really

Could it be the overflow from an adjacent toilet that is dripping? That would happen if the float that stops it filling was not adjusted correctly.

Obviously your fill valve keeps filling the tank because the float or ball is set to high. Depending on your fill valve you adjust the float arm down or slide the float down on the rod.

An educated guess but i think your ball valve is on the way out. This can be found in the tank in your loft. A simple thing for a plumber so if you know one,get him round.

There may be a leak on the faucet in back of the tub,
I take it it,s a tub ? where the pipes come to the fixture,
the over flow should be right under the spout, it is hooked to the main drain, ,nothing else, another cause could be moisture in the pipe it,s self,
