Are the Christian conservative Republicans who think it's OK for 50,000,000 Americans to go without health care acting in a manner consistent with Jesus' teaching? Doesn't Old Testament law and Jesus' teaching say we should be helping the poor? What about children?

Jesus would cover everyone. No one would die from lack of care like third world countries.

Jesus doesn't need to rely upon a corrupt government to heal people. Why would you lower our Lord & Savior to the level of a politician?

Why are there 50 million people without health care? Have their jobs been outsourced? Maybe we should take a look at what Ron Paul says and bring America home.

Our government provides healthcare through welfare along with food stamps for those who have nothing - or at least that is what we're told.

If our country is forced to become a part of the North American Union because of NAFTA, etc., we will be forced to pay for health insurance for the people in Mexico and provide them with government benefits. Then what will you think of your heathcare plan that you will get stuck paying for?

It is people who should be helping, not the government, is what I think Jesus would say about it.

According to some passages, the church should be helping out with the money from tithes if you go back to the Old Testiment, since one of the tithes was for the community.

I don't think Jesus would be happy about outrageous malpractice suits are often done for greed. (Not all, but a lot).

As for contracts with medical insureance companies, Jesus basically said "buyer beware" in one of the parables. If you choose not to get it, thats your choice. If you get it and dont like it, you signed up for it. The government may need to step in there, but I don't think Jesus would have a problem with people making choices. He may not like the people giving the choices, but they make thier choices too.

Jesus would most certainly support universal health care. I have to say that I cannot at all understand why there is so much opposition to this in the US. It seems absolutely ludicrous to most people who live in countries where there is universal health care, that Americans get so hot under the collar about this issue.
In Australia, we have both private and public health care. The private is for those who can afford it and they are able to access some services a little easier than people on Medicare. But if anyone really needs a treatment or procedure they are NEVER refused and everything is done according to needs. We have private and public hospitals. The rooms in the private hospitals are usually a little bit better appointed (but not always) and the equipment and expertise is much more 'state of the art' in the public hospitals.
All medical practitioners are in their own practice and anyone can choose who they want as their doctor. Those who can, pay through their insurance and those who can't afford health insurance get their medical consultations paid for by Medicare. People who work and don't have private health insurance pay a little bit more in tax at the end of the financial year. It is not perfect but it does work and nobody dies because they can't get medical treatment. So what is the big deal in the US?

Well - HELP THE POOR THEN - I DO, and I don't need inherently corrupt and inefficient bureaucrats filtering my money first. Are you too lazy to help the poor and needy on your own? Let me tell you a story...My son passed away 4 years ago from leukemia. When we applied for government assistance we were told that I made too much money and did not qualify - I made $45,000 a year at the time - certainly not a rich person. I had health insurance but it would not cover all of the expenses or my required time away from work. We literally had to cash in my 401k and had several fund raisers just so we would not lose our house. I have paid into this system for 20 years and have never been on any kind of government assistance. Where does all the money that working Americans pay into the system go? That should be your question.

If Jesus supported universal health care no one would ever get sick.
If you have read even a little Jesus only healed those that came to him. He did not even readily heal the Samaritan woman because she was not a Jew. Don't you think we should go by what Jesus actually said and did instead of what you would want him to do.

we've already got all of those in some variety different than extensive-unfold well-being care. all of us already pay for the well-being care of government workers, prisoners, the indigent, bankruptcies from scientific expenses, elderly, the disabled, unlawful immigrants in some states, unemployed, and as quickly as we purchase issues, part of that money is going to pay salaries and scientific of the staff. the folk who're paying the scientific coverage, the two straight away or circuitously, of people are uninterested with no longer being waiting to have coverage themselves. we choose a healthy artwork stress. the staff must be those WITH scientific coverage, no longer those omitted! Preventative care is critical for each American. H

Gee, I don't remember Jesus going to Pilate and telling him to give every Jew a health card. Must have left that out of the Bibles I've read.

Seems to me Jesus healed the blinds and the cripples and then let them lead their lives by following His teachings.

If Jesus supported Universal Health Care, He could make us all well right now...He hasn't, so there ya go...

Absolutely not. Universal health care harms; waiting for important treatment can take forever.

No
Jesus would expect us to do the right thing with out the government help.

There are already tons of public aid programs out there.

Jesus would be more concern about people seeking Him rather than using Him as way to score politcal points.

It has already proven that Conservative Christians give more to help the poor with time and their own mony than liberals.

Jesus woulds ask why don't liberals step up to the plate and help when they use His name.
