Up to a point. Then "common sense" tended to dominate - not necessarily a good idea, but the only way to survive. But once the heart is fond it can never entirely relinquish its memories. No matter how many. And they can never sour to diminish affection with grim emergent realities. What joy. What sorrow. That, as friend of mine was fond of saying, is the rich tapestry of life.

Absence to some extent, makes your heart grow fonder. but when it exceeds a certain limit, we just die of Regret for having even known that person. We undergo a terrible pain. A pain so unbearable, that we feel forgetting that person is just better than bearing this pain. Even anger dominates at certain time. Everything becomes totally unbalanced. We feel confused about everything.

I think that absinthe makes the heart grow fonder. But of your choices, I would say realization. Specifically, the realization that the object of so much fondness is no longer there to recieve or give the gifts of the heart, and it hurts.

absence do make a heart grew fonder...and it happens at a point in life where we realise that we had lost that particular thing frm us and we start to grow fonder towards it...so,realization would definetely be my answer...

Patience is probably the closest, when the object of your fondness is still with you in this physical plane.
Faith is next.
You forgot hope. Hope that the time you were told to wait will be cut shorter for reasons , any reason.
There is also creativity. When you are waiting, you make things sometimes in preparation of the coming of the one you are fond of, to keep yourself busy and occupied.

When we really miss someone truly, our heart grow fonder:)
4. Realization, because we realize that when they were with us, how much important they were:)

faith and happiness
Faith that your significant other loves and cares just as much as you.
If you are happy you dont stray. If you make your husband/loved one happy then there wont be a void that needs to be filled.
