You could start by soliciting local publications, or even the Reader's Digest. Any writer knows that s/he is a writer by the umber of rejection slips there are to prove it. Don't think I'm making wise or making you the butt of a joke. It's the truth!

That is a good question. I also write poems and have been wanting to get them published. Though I'm still searching for the answers, I know some don'ts in regard to publishing poems - don't do it through poetry.com. What they will do is publish your poem and make you buy the book. The thing is hese books are not sold anywhere in stores and can only be obtained through their website. They will send you the book with your poem being on the front page - they do this to everyone to make them feel special - basically it's a scam, and having a poem published in any of their anthalogies is not a legitimate way to publish a poem.
What you could try is getting a copy of "The Poet's Market" from your library - make sure it's a fairly recent issue. In it, they give a lot of helpful resources for how to get started and even make a list of various poetry agencies looking for entries - you can browse them by the poem topics, or just do a general browsing. Good luck.

Hi
I think you'll find this book very useful, its called 'The Writer's Handbook', written by Barry Turner, I think it's revised every year I have the 2006 edition, I bought my copy from W.H. Smith for around £15, it doesn't just list publishers of poetry it lists publishers of everything from magazines to books complete with telephone numbers and addresses, I realise £15 is expensive, you may be able to download it or borrow it from the Library, here's some net info from the back of the book: www.panmacmillan.com, or www.thewritershandbook.com, here's one from the book to get you started it accepts work from new writers:-
Arc Publications.Nanholme Mill. Shaw Wood Road.Todmorden. OL14 6DA...Tel Tony Ward 01706 812338..Fax 01706 818948...e-mail arc.publications@btconnect.com..net www.arcpublications.co.uk
I hope you find the above useful and when you're rich and famous remember me cos that's just cost you a pint.

Well you could start by using your spell check and once you have done that, take them to your local papers and see if they will publish any, you can also try putting them in book form and sending them to publishers. You post them off and if the publisher likes them they will send you a retainer cheque. Good luck with your future.

i'm confident there are some respected publishers obtainable, yet...... the easy answer is that in the process recent times there are a techniques, far extra people writing poetry then keen to pay to examine it. maximum "revealed" poets truthfully pay for it in one way or yet another - this is named "conceitedness publishing" interior the commerce. There are a number of varients in this topic, yet finally the guy writing the poetry will pay to get it revealed. for example they might make a contribution one poem to a volume, as do many different poets, and that they and all the different individuals pay to purchase the e book, which no one else is going to purchase. Sorry to be so harsh, yet i think honour-absolute to allow you to already know all this. by using all skill proceed writing poetry to hold happiness into your existence and the lives of your loved ones. enter unfastened competitions or set up your guy or woman internet site and the right thank you to make it properly ordinary. yet pay attention each and each man or woman who provides to submit your poetry. by using a techniques the least complicated way of growing to be funds from poetry is to get it from unpublished poets themselves! In precis, look upon your poetry as a surprising way of expressing the secret and exhilaration of the human adventure. look someplace else for financial benefit. ideal desires

Why not self publish them? You pay some money but you can design your book cover and the layout. You can enter your book into contests and sell to friends and others.
This company is good: www.trafford.com
Good luck.
